Joe Locke has joined the cast of Agatha: Coven of Chaos, Marvel’s Agatha Harkness series.
The show is a spin-off from Disney+ hit WandaVision, which followed the two eponymous super-powered beings as they lived their idealised suburban lives — but began to suspect that everything was not as it seemed. The show, directed by Matt Shakman with Jac Schaeffer as head writer, introduced audiences to the witch Agatha Harkness, who promptly became a fan favourite.
Last year, Marvel confirmed Agatha was getting a solo outing, with Kathryn Hahn in the lead – and now, she’s got company, with Heartstopper star Joe Locke joining her as the male lead. Details about plot and character are under wraps, but sources tell Deadline that his character is a gay teen with a dark sense of humour.
Aubrey Plaza has also reportedly been tapped for a role, which is expected to be a villain.
Returning from WandaVision, meanwhile, is Emma Caulfield Ford as Dottie.
Disney+ officially announces Agatha: House of Harkness series
12th November 2021
Agatha: House of Harkness is officially happening at Disney+.
The series, a spin-off from WandaVision, will reveal more about the titular character first introduced in Marvel Studios’ WandaVision.
A blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, WandaVision was the first of Marvel’s new live-action series for Disney’s subscription streaming service, and followed the two super-powered beings as they lived their idealised suburban lives — but begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems. The show, directed by Matt Shakman with Jac Schaeffer as head writer, ushered in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is rooted in magic and the multiverse.
Key to that was the introduction of Agatha Harkness, who promptly became a fan favourite. Since then, reports of a spin-off solo outing for Agatha have been doing the rounds – and now, Disney+ has officially confirmed that the project is on the way.
Jac Schaefer, who served as head writer and executive producer on WandaVision, will return behind the scenes.

Kathryn Hahn may be about to get her own solo series, with a spin-off from WandaVision reportedly in the works at Disney+.

Kathryn Hahn was widely praised for her scene-stealing role in the series. Now, she’s about to get her chance to flex her Marvel muscles in full, with a solo outing in which she would play Agatha Harkness.
Sources tell Variety that the project is in development as a dark comedy that would follow the witch Agatha, although an further details are currently under wraps. WandaVision showrunner Jac Schaeffer would reportedly serve as the writer and exec-producer on the show and, while things are a way off from being confirmed and green-lit, it would be a natural step for Marvel and Schaeffer, who has an overall deal with the comics giant and 20th Television.
Hahn was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at this year’s Emmys for her role in WandaVision – one of 23 Emmy nods for the programme – and her musical number in the show went on to win the Best Original Song Emmy.
