Luke Evans will co-star alongside Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston in Netflix comedy Murder Mystery.
The film, which is written by James Vanderbilt, reunites the Just Go With It couple to play an unwitting paid of murder suspects. Sandler stars as a New York cop who takes his wife (Aniston) on a long-awaited holiday to Europe, only for the pair to find themselves accused of killing an elderly billionaire, Malcolm Quince.
That happens thanks to a chance meeting with a mysterious man, who invites them a family party on Quince’s yacht, leading them to become prime suspects in a modern day whodunnit. Now, the film has found its man in Luke Evans, who has shot to worldwide stardom in recent years, following turns in The Hobbit, the Fast & Furious franchise and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast live action remake.
As well as Aniston and Sandler, the film marks a reunion between Sandler and Netflix, for whom he has made six movies. It also marks a reunion between Evans and Netflix, with TNT’s period thriller The Alienist snapped up exclusively in the UK by the streaming service. The director, too, is no stranger to Netflix: Workaholics’ Kyle Newacheck is at the helm of the project, fresh from directing Netflix action comedy Game Over, Man!, which was released earlier this year.
Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston reunite for Netflix Murder Mystery
4th April 2018
Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston are reuniting to solve a Murder Mystery for Netflix.
The comedy will see the duo, who worked together on Just Go With It, team up once more to play an unwitting pair of murder suspects. Sandler will play a New York City cop with Aniston as his wife. While on holiday in Europe, the couple find themselves in the frame for the killing of an elderly billionaire.
Written by The Rundown’s James Vanderbilt, the film is directed by Workaholics co-creator Kyle Newacheck, who is fresh from Netflix’s action comedy Game Over, Man!, which was released last month. Indeed, it’s also a reunion for Sandler and Netflix, with the comedian and actor already having made five movies for the streaming service, including The Ridiculous Six, Sandy Wexler, The Do-Over and The Week Of, co-starring Chris Rock, which lands on 27th April. He also starred in Noah Baumbach’s Netflix comedy The Meyerowitz Stories, which earned Sandler some of his best ever reviews. Netflix has already signed another four-movie deal with the actor.
While it’s Aniston’s first time working with the streaming giant, though, she’s no stranger to the world of online video: she is currently helping to spearhead Apple TV’s push into the streaming arena, co-starring in a high-profile TV series with Reese Witherspoon.
