David Farnor | On 28, Jan 2022
The Glasgow Film Festival returns this March, with the festival once again playing online as well as in cinemas.
Running from 2nd to 13th March, the 18th edition of the festival will host 10 world premieres, 4 European premieres, 65 UK premieres and 13 Scottish premieres. The opening gala will be the UK premiere of The Outfit and the closing gala will be the UK premiere of Murina, plus there will be a special International Women’s Day gala UK premiere of Happening on 8th March. All three will show on big screens across the country at partner venues.
There will also be a preview screening of the first episode of Season 6 of STARZPLAY’s Outlander and Glasgow-born creative force Armando Iannucci will take part in a live “In Conversation” event.
A selection of festival highlights will also stream online via the Glasgow Film At Home platform.
As part of the festival, FrightFest will also showcase 12 new titles, including Chris Sivertson’s (The Lost, I Know Who Killed Me) supernatural thriller, Monstrous, starring Christina Ricci, Sebastian Godwin’s debut, the atmospheric chiller, Homebound, Connor McMahon’s (Dead Meat, Stitches) latest, Let the Wrong One In, starring Anthony Head, and Harold J Ford’s (Never Let Me Go) The Ledge. Tickets for FrightFest go on sale on 1st February, while all other screenings go on sale on 2nd February.
The online portion will feature 13 films, including Scottish director Ruth Paxton’s feature debut A Banquet, True Things and I Am Samuel. The online screenings will cost £9.99 for a rental, with films then available for 3 days from their digital premiere date – and available for a 24-hour window once playback has started.
