Shudder continues to serve up chilling horror to keep those summer nights nightmarishly cool – and top of the bill this month is the jaw-dropping animation Mad God from Phil Tippett.

What Keeps You Alive – 1st June
On the eve of their one-year wedding anniversary, Jules and Jackie become embroiled in a merciless fight for their lives when they find themselves pitted against the most unexpected of adversaries: each other.
Alligator / Alligator II – 2nd June
Available for the first time on SVOD, cult favorite creature features Alligator (1980) and Alligator II: The Mutation (1991) come to Shudder in stunning new prints scanned from the original camera negatives.
Hellbenders – 6th June
When a demon escapes into New York intent on cracking open the gates of Hell, a group of elite, highly-trained exorcists must save the planet from eternal damnation! Contains strong language, violence and gore.
The Incident – 6th June
George, Max and Ricky work in the kitchen of a high security asylum. Good pay, minimum risk – they have no physical contact with the inmates. One night, just before dinner time, a big storm shuts down the security system, the doors open and the lunatics break loose. Help is on its way and should soon arrive. They just have to wait for it – and survive until then.
Crystal Eyes – 6th June
On the first anniversary of the death of Alexis Carpenter, the unstable supermodel who died tragically in a horrendous catwalk fire, fashion editor Lucia L’uccello wants to honour Alexis in a commemorative issue of her magazine. However, the night before the cover photoshoot, Alexis’ original dresses are stolen, and staff members begin to disappear at the hands of a sinister silhouette in a long black leather raincoat.
Offseason – 10th June
Upon receiving a mysterious letter that her mother’s grave site has been vandalised, in Offseason, Marie (Jocelin Donahue, Doctor Sleep) quickly returns to the isolated offshore island where her late mother is buried. When she arrives, she discovers that the island is closing for the offseason with the bridges raised until Spring, leaving her stranded. One strange interaction with the local townspeople after another, Marie soon realises that something is not quite right in this small town. She must unveil the mystery behind her mother’s troubled past in order to make it out alive. Starring Jocelin Donahue, Joe Swanberg, Richard Brake, Melora Walters and Jeremy Gardner. Demonic – 13th June
A group of teenage ghost hunters travel to a supposedly haunted house in an attempt to summon spirits from the dead. After performing a Seance, something goes drastically wrong and they are violently killed over the course of the night. A police officer and a psychologist are brought in to question the survivor to discover what happened to them during that horrific evening.
Open 24 Hours – 13th June
After setting her serial killer boyfriend on fire, a paranoid delusional woman gets a job at an all-night gas station.The isolation triggers her anxiety and hallucinations, with devastatingly gory results.
Repression – 13th June
When therapist Marianne moves to a remote area of Scotland, her attempts at a new life is thrown off course by one of her patients, ten-year-old Manny, who claims he can see and control her future. Marianne struggles against both the wall of silence from her colleagues and her mind as she tries to uncover the truth behind Manny’s drawings.
Mad God – 16th June
Mad God marks the feature directorial debut for visionary and Oscar and Emmy Award-winning stop-motion animator and special effects supervisor Phil Tippett, the creative powerhouse involved in such classics as RoboCop, Starship Troopers, Jurassic Park, and Star Wars: A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. Mad God is an experimental animated film set in a world of monsters, mad scientists and war pigs. A corroded diving bell descends amidst a ruined city, settling down upon an ominous fortress guarded by zombie-like sentries. The Assassin emerges to explore a labyrinth of bizarre, desolate landscapes inhabited by freakish denizens. Through unexpected twists and turns, he experiences an evolution beyond his wildest comprehension.
The Freakmaker – 20th June
Professor Nolter, a college science professor who believes it is man’s destiny to survive an uncertain future by evolving into a hybrid plant/human mutation. To test his theories, Nolter supervises the abduction of young co-eds and fuses them with mutant plants he has developed in his laboratory, placing his rejects in a neighboring freak show (which stars such real-life oddities as the Alligator Lady, the Frog Boy, the Human Pretzel, the Monkey Woman, the Human Pincushion and the unforgettable “Popeye”.
Sea Fever – 20th June
Solitary marine biology student Siobhán endures a week on a ragged fishing trawler, where she’s miserably at odds with the close-knit crew.
We Summon the Darkness – 20th June
Three best friends embark on a road trip to a heavy-metal show, where they bond with three aspiring musicians and head off to one of the girls’ country home for an afterparty. A night of fun and youthful debauchery takes a deadly turn as bodies begin to pile up, with each side thinking the other hides the killer.
Slumber Party Massacre (2021) – 20th June
A slumber party turns into a bloodbath when a psychopath wielding a power-drill disrupts the fun. A reimagining of Roger Corman’s 1982 cult classic directed by Danishka Esterhazy.
Revealer – 23rd June
Tensions rise when a stripper and religious protester are trapped together in a peep show booth and must come together to survive the apocalypse in 1980s Chicago. Starring Caito Aase (Black Mold) and Shaina Schrooten (Scare Package II: Rad Chad’s Revenge). Written by popular comic authors Tim Seeley (Hack/Slash, Revival) and Michael Moreci (Barbaric, The Plot) and directed by Luke Boyce.
