Let it never be said that Shudder doesn’t know how to celebrate Halloween – AMC’s subscription streaming service for all things horror and genre has got one of its busiest months ever this October, continuing a slate of weekly new movie premieres and original series debuts, plus the return of its Halloween Hotline where members can receive live, personalised movie recommendations from Shudder’s head curator Samuel Zimmerman – you can call every Friday in October from 8-9pm BST on +1 914-481-2239.

Here’s what’s coming to Shudder UK in October 2021:

Night of the Demons (1988) – 4th October

A group of kids go to a Halloween party, only to have to face down a group of demons.

Witchboard – 4th October

In Kevin S. Tenney’s demonic debut, a woman (‘80s video vixen Tawny Kitaen) unknowingly makes contact with an evil spectre using a Ouija board, which results in a spiritual slaying spree. Now it’s up to Linda’s boyfriend and her ex to stop the evil entity before it possesses her and kills again.

The Brood  – 4th October

David Cronenberg’s The Brood is a chillingly twisted masterpiece of visceral intensity, considered by many as one of the scariest and terrifying films of all time. Dr. Hal Raglan (Oliver Reed) experiments with “Psychoplasmics” a radical therapy designed to release pent-up emotions in his patients. He keeps his best and brightest patient, Nola (Samantha Eggar), in isolation. But as she successfully vents her rage and expels her demons during the sessions a series of brutal murders will unleash a whole new breed of terror!

Scanners  – 4th October

In David Cronenberg’s iconic sci-fi horror, a special group of people born with telekinetic powers are sought out by weapon’s company ConSec for their own villainous means.

Candy Corn  – 4th October

It’s Halloween weekend and a group of bullies are planning their annual hazing on local outcast, Jacob Atkins. When they take things too far, he’s resurrected to seek revenge against those that wronged
him.

Midnight Man  – 5th October

A girl and her friends find a game in the attic that summons a  creature known as The Midnight Man, who uses their worst fears against them.

The Mutilator   – 5th October

In this sickening slice of ‘80s slasher fun, a homicidal hunter lures his estranged son to his beach house, then starts killing the poor kid’s friends with an array of deadly devices. It’s all part of a deranged vengeance aimed at Ed Jr., who accidentally killed his mother while attempting to clean his father’s gun collection as a child. As the night drags on, Big Ed uses steel hooks, axes and even an outboard motor to play the most dangerous game with the confused co-eds.

V/H/S/94  – 6th October

A Shudder Original Film, V/H/S/94 is the fourth installment in the hit horror anthology franchise and marks the return of the infamous found footage anthology with segments from franchise alumni Simon Barrett (Seance) and Timo Tjahjanto (May the Devil Take You Too) in addition to acclaimed directors Jennifer Reeder (Knives & Skin), Ryan Prows (Lowlife) and Chloe Okuno (Slut). In V/H/S/94, after the discovery of a mysterious VHS tape, a brutish police swat team launch a high intensity raid on a remote warehouse, only to discover a sinister cult compound whose collection of pre-recorded material uncovers a nightmarish conspiracy.
 

When A Stranger Calls   – 11th October

During a babysitting gig, a high school student is harassed by an increasingly threatening prank caller.

Xtro   – 11th October

An alien creature impregnates a woman who gives birth to a man that was abducted by aliens three years ago. The man reconnects with his wife and son for a sinister purpose.

Boo!   – 11th October

Madea lands in the midst of mayhem when she spends a haunted Halloween fending off killers, paranormal poltergeists, ghosts, ghouls, and zombies while keeping a watchful eye on her wild teenage great-niece.

House    – 12th October

A horror novelist moves into a freaky haunted house after his aunt kills herself. Roger Cobb needs a quiet place to write his Vietnam memoir and forget about his young son’s mysterious disappearance.
But when ghosts and monsters intrude, Roger’s got to work up the courage to fight back – and make peace with the past.

House II  – 12th October

Ghosts, a magic skull, and Amazon warriors are just a few elements of this super-fun sequel. Jesse moves into his family’s strange mansion, and, after a few drinks, decides to dig up his great-grandfather’s corpse to see if a mythical skull is buried with him. Sure enough, Jesse finds the skull, but soon winds up on a time-traveling adventure with his undead gramps.

House III  – 12th October

Detective McCarthy finally catches “Meat Cleaver Max”, a serial killer, who promises  revenge during his execution. Nonetheless, a parapsychologist tells the detective that the only hope of stopping Max for good is to destroy his spirit.

House IV  – 12th October

Roger Cobb (William Katt) is killed in a car accident. His family must move into the house that has haunted him for several years. Soon the family begins to experience scary and unexplained phenomena.

The Medium – 14th October

A documentary team follows Nim, a shaman based in Northern Thai, the Isan area, and encounters her niece Mink showing strange symptoms that seem to be of inheritance of shamanism. The team decides to follow Mink, hoping to capture the shaman lineage passing on to the next generation, but her bizarre behavior becomes more extreme. From director Banjong Pisanthanakun (Shutter) and producer Na Hong-jin (director of The Wailing). Winner Best Film, Bucheon International Film Festival 2021.
 
 

Pulse  – 15th October

A mysterious webcam site claims to offer visitors the chance to connect with the dead in Japanese horror god Kiyoshi  Kurosawa’s heart-stopping film. A group of friends are rocked by another friend’s
suicide, and his ghostly reappearance in computer video images. Is he trying to reach out from the afterlife, or is something more sinister afoot?

Children of the Corn – 15th October

 

A couple must escape from a town of evil kids in this Stephen King short-story adaptation that spawned
seven sequels.

Blood and Black Lace – 15th October

When young model, Isabella, is murdered by a masked killer, the employees of a chic Italian fashion house find themselves the next targets of the mysterious assailant.

Re-Animator – 15th October

This classic ‘80s cult horror hit follows a student who brings the dead back to life. Herbert West (the brilliant Jeffrey Combs) has just enrolled at a new school after an attempt to revive a former professor went very wrong.

Assault on Precinct 13 – 15th October

A policeman must defend his precinct against a siege by sadistic criminals in John Carpenter’s ultra-violent second feature.

Trick – 15th October

A no-nonsense detective tries to track down a mass murderer named Trick, who is terrorizing a small town.

Boys From County Hell – 21st October

Welcome to Six Mile Hill, a sleepy Irish backwater whose only claim to fame is the somewhat dubious local legend that Bram Stoker once spent a night in the local pub. It’s home to Eugene Moffat, a young man who fills most of his days drinking pints with his friends and pranking tourists who come to visit the gravesite of Abhartach, a legendary Irish vampire some believe to have inspired ‘Dracula.’ When a personal tragedy forces Eugene to go and work for his gruff, no-nonsense father, he finds himself on the site of a controversial new road development that threatens to destroy the town’s livelihood. But strange events unfold when Eugene and the crew tear down a famous cairn believed to be the final resting place of Abhartach, and they soon come under attack from a sinister force that has infected one of their workmates. As the night closes in, The Boys must fight for survival while discovering the true horror of a myth that hits much closer to home than any of them realise. The Addiction – 25th October

A New York philosophy grad student turns into a vampire after getting bitten by one, and then tries to come to terms with her new lifestyle and frequent craving for human blood.

Just Before Dawn – 25th October

Five young people venture into the backwoods of Oregon to claim a property, and find themselves being stalked by a hulking, machete-wielding psychopath.

House of 1000 Corpses – 25th October

Helmed by Rob Zombie, this gore fest follows two young couples on their quest to find the truth about a mythical character known only as “Dr. Satan.”

Horror Noire – 28th October

A new Shudder Original anthology film, Horror Noire is a follow-up to the critically acclaimed 2019 documentary Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror and features new work from both established and emerging talents, showcasing stories of Black horror from Black directors and screenwriters. Anthology writers featured include Tananarive Due, Steven Barnes, Victor LaValle, Shernold Edwards, Al Letson and Ezra C. Daniels. Cast featured include Lesley-Ann Brandt (Lucifer, Spartacus), Luke James (The Chi, Thoughts of a Colored Man), Erica Ash (Survivor’s Remorse, A Black Lady Sketch Show), Brandon Mychal Smith (Four Weddings and a Funeral, You’re the Worst), Sean Patrick Thomas (Macbeth, The Curse of La Llorona), Peter Stormare (American Gods, Fargo,) Malcolm Barrett (Genius: Aretha Franklin, Timeless) and Rachel True (The Craft, Half & Half), among others.
 
 

The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula Season 4 – 19th October

The groundbreaking Shudder Original series follows ten drag artists from around the world competing for a $100,000 grand prize – the largest in show history. Season four will feature a spectacular lineup of guest judges including Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical film series), Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows), Kristian Nairn (Game of Thrones), Misha Osherovich (Freaky), Queer country music icon Orville Peck, pop metal star Poppy, Ray Santiago (Ash vs. The Evil Dead), Bob the Drag Queen (We’re Here), and more, with additional judges to be announced later. Dubbed one of “the 19 best LGBTQ+ shows everyone needs to watch” by Cosmopolitan, The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula is written and produced by the Boulet Brothers with Executive Producer David Sigurani and director Nathan Noyes.
 
 

Behind the Monsters – 27th October

The new original docu-series Behind the Monsters takes a deep dive on cinematic horror icons, including Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, Candyman, Chucky and Pinhead, and features interviews with horror experts and the writers, directors and actors from the original films that made each character the stuff of genre legends. Written and directed by Gabrielle Binkley and Anthony Uro and produced by Stage 3 Productions, Behind the Monsters is executive produced by Phil Nobile Jr., Kelly Ryan and Mark Shostrom.
