Shudder brings old and new scares to our screens this summer, with a 1959 classic joined by an underrated gem from recent years, The Nest.
Here’s the line-up:
The House on Haunted Hill (1959) – 8th July
A millionaire offers $10,000 to five people who agree to be locked in a large, spooky rented house overnight with him and his wife.
Tromeo and Juliet (1996) – 22nd July
Tromeo, a filmmaker, falls in love with Juliet, the daughter of a former partner who tried to steal his business from him. Written by James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy).
Zombie Creeping Flesh – 1st July
A tough female reporter and her cameraman boyfriend team up with a four-man commando unit in the New Guinea jungle whom are fighting flesh-eating zombies.
Witchcraft – 1st July
A photographer and others are stranded at a Massachusetts island hotel haunted by a woman in black.
In the Trap – 1st July
Phillip, a solitary proofreader, is trapped in his apartment, too afraid to leave and tortured by an unknown evil force that has kept him prisoner for the last two years.
The Nest – 1st July
An entrepreneur and his family begin to unravel after moving into an old country manor in England in the 1980s.
Shortcut – 1st July
A mysterious creature terrorizes five teenage friends after their bus takes a shortcut on a desolate road in the wild.
A Woman Kills (1968) – 1st July
Hélène Picard, a prostitute, is sentenced and executed for murders, but shortly thereafter, similar crimes continue. Executioner Louis Guilbeau meanwhile develops a relationship with the investigating officer, Solange, who soon learns Louis may not be who he says he is.
Class of Nuke ‘Em High – 8th July
The pupils at a high school next to a nuclear power plant start acting and looking strange after buying contaminated drugs from a plant worker.
Lord of Misrule – 12th July
A priest begins a desperate search when her daughter goes missing during the local harvest festival. As she uncovers secrets from the town’s dark past, she must decide how much she’s willing to sacrifice to rescue the girl from the grip of evil.
Rabid Grannies – 15th July
Two sweet little old ladies fall victim to an ancient curse that transforms them into bloodthirsty killers!
Nightbeast – 22nd July
Insane sadistic hermit stalks and captures those who get lost in his part of the woods. A young woman whose car broke down is about to find out what he does with them next.
