The Unofficial Science of Indiana Jones (Sky Max, 9pm) – 1st January
Greg James and Maisie Adam team up to take on Indiana Jones as they learn how to dodge poisonous darts, outrun giant boulders, and survive fireballs. While they explore the stunts of the films, Alex Brooker returns to explore the sets and meet iconic cast members to hear their favourite memories.
The Great Rhino Robbery: Season 1 (Sky Documentaries, 9pm) – 3rd January
In 2011, regional museums and auction houses across Britain are hit by a bizarre crime spree. Despite holding millions of pounds worth of precious artefacts, only one item has been targeted during each robbery: rhino horn. As this strange crime wave sweeps through Europe and beyond, rhino numbers are shrinking as their horns become more valuable than gold in the dark, illegal, world of animal poaching and trafficking. This documentary unpicks the story behind why the Rhino is facing extinction and the race to catch the people responsible – before it’s too late. All 3 parts arrive at once.
Julia: Season 2 (Sky Atlantic, 9pm) – 4th January
With her trailblazing cooking show up and running on the air, Julia grapples with her rising celebrity and what that means for her, her colleagues and her show. In season two, Julia and her devoted husband Paul return from Simca’s home in France to find that her success has changed everything. Through her singular joie de vivre, she and her team must navigate WGBH, the White House and a threat from their past, while continuing to spearhead female-driven public television and confront social issues still prevalent today. SurrealEstate: Season 2 (Sky Sci-Fi, 9pm) – 9th January
Real estate isn’t all escrow and finding the home of your dreams. OK, so it’s partially that. But when you’re a Roman Agency client, things tend to get a bit more metaphysical. Luckily for homebuyers who find themselves in need of some paranormal assistance. The Roman Agency, led by Luke Roman, is back to do battle with ghosts, demons, and all things that go bump in the night in order to rid houses of their unsavoury occupants. All episodes arrive at once.
Landscape Artist of the Year: Season 9 (Sky Arts, 8pm( – 10th January
Shake off the cold and enjoy some of the country’s most iconic locations from the comfort of your own home as we open up the search for the latest Landscape Artist of the Year 2024. Stephen Mangan is back on presenting duties while our new clutch of artists will be capturing beloved sights from across the UK including Dunnottar Castle, Liverpool Docks and Buckler’s Hard, with the final taking place in London’s Covent Garden. At stake will be a £10,000 commission for the Science Museum to create a piece celebrating the Orkney Islands and their role in the sustainable energy revolution. Episodes arrive weekly.

True Detective: Season 4 (Sky Atlantic, 2am/9pm) – 15th January
When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice. The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards Highlights (Sky Max, 8pm) – 16th January
Honouring the best in television across the latter half of 2022 and the first six months of 2023, the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards will take place at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. Delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, the nominations are led by Succession with 27 nods across all categories – including three for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Other series in the running for a statuette include The Last of Us (24 nominations), The White Lotus (23), Ted Lasso (21) and The Marvelous Mrs Maisel (14).
Arthur’s Whisky – 1st January
A charming, feel-good comedy about living in the moment. When Joan’s (Patricia Hodge OBE) husband dies, she discovers he had invented an anti-aging elixir that literally takes the years off. Sharing it with her two friends Linda (Diane Keaton) and Susan (Lulu), the three rejuvenated women waste no time in painting the town red, but they soon realise it’s a very different world to the one they remember.
Fast X – 5th January
Over many missions and against impossible odds, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family have outsmarted, out-nerved and outdriven every foe in their path. Little Bone Lodge – 6th January
Little Bone Lodge follows two criminal brothers on the run, who seek refuge in a desolate farmhouse. Taking the entire family captive, they find that the house holds terrible and dark secrets of its own. Joely Richardson plays the fearsome family matriarch.
The Secret Kingdom – 7th January
Hidden beneath their bedroom floor lies a land of enchantment, which must be protected from an ancient enemy — the evil Shroud. As they embark on their quest to unite five mystical treasures and save the Kingdom, Peter and Verity must face epic challenges that will test their bravery to the limit.
One More Shot – 12th January
In the sequel to 2021’s One Shot, director James Nunn reunites with Scott Adkins as Navy SEAL Jake Harris for more explosive action. As squad leader Harris attempts to escort a suspected terrorist from a black site, his team comes under fire from a group of deadly mercenaries.

No Hard Feelings – 19th January
