What do Jeremy Saulnier, Studio Ghibli, Will Ferrell, Carrie Coon, Susanne Bier and Apollo 13 have in common? They’re all heading to Netflix in September, in a star-studded month that includes buzzy documentaries Will & Harper and Apollo 13: Survival, big-hitting dramas Nobody Wants This, His Three Daughters and The Perfect Couple, action thriller Rebel Ridge and Grave of the Fireflies. Plus there’s the return of reality series Selling Sunset and Outlast.

Here’s what’s coming soon to Netflix UK in September 2024:

Somewhere – 1st September

Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning star as an estranged father and daughter in Sofia Coppola’s poignant drama.

Outlast: Season 2 – 4th September

16 lone wolf experts are dropped in the Alaskan wilderness and must outlast each other in a battle for a million dollar payout. There’s only one rule in this cut throat game: they must be part of a team to win.

Apollo 13: Survival – 5th September

Using original footage and interviews, this documentary tells the nail-biting story of Apollo 13 and the struggle to bring its astronauts safely home.

The Perfect Couple: Season 1 – 5th September

Amelia Sacks is about to marry into one of the wealthiest families on Nantucket. Her disapproving future mother-in-law, famous novelist Greer Garrison Winbury, has spared no expense in planning what promises to be the premiere wedding of the season – until a body turns up on the beach. As secrets come to light, the stage is set for a real-life investigation that feels plucked from the pages of one of Greer’s novels. Suddenly, everyone is a suspect. Starring Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Eve Hewson, Dakota Fanning, and Meghann Fahy. Directed by Susanne Bier.

Rebel Ridge – 6th September

In the latest from Jeremy Saulnier, a former Marine grapples his way through a web of small-town corruption when an attempt to post bail for his cousin escalates into a violent standoff with the local police chief. He didn’t start this fight, but he will finish it.

Selling Sunset: Season 8 – 6th September

The stakes are higher than a penthouse view. Who will rise to the top and who will crumble under pressure?

Uglies – 13th September

In a futuristic world that imposes a cosmetic surgery at 16, Tally is eager for her turn to join the rest of society. But when a friend runs away, Tally embarks on a journey to save her that upends everything she thought she wanted. Joey King stars in this dystopian young adult thriller.

Grave of the Fireflies – 16th September

Studio Ghibli’s deeply moving animated film joins the Hayao Miyazaki collection already on Netflix. Based on Akiyuki Nosaka’s Naoki Prize-winning short story, Isao Takahata’s drama is set in Kobe near the end of World War II and depicts the tragic fate of war orphan siblings and the horrors of this period.

His Three Daughters – 20th September

A riveting, funny and touching portrait of family dynamics starring Carrie Coon, Natasha Lyonne, and Elizabeth Olsen as estranged sisters who reunite to care for their ailing father.

Nobody Wants This: Season 1 – 26th September

An agnostic podcast host and an unconventional rabbi on the rebound walk into a party. When they walk out — together — the unlikely pair, Joanne (Kristen Bell) and Noah (Adam Brody), can tell there is something between them. But also potentially between them, with their differing outlooks on life, all of the modern obstacles to love, and their sometimes well-meaning, sometimes sabotaging families — including her sister Morgan (Justine Lupe) and his brother Sasha (Timothy Simons).

Will & Harper – 27th September

Directed by Josh Greenbaum, this documentary follows Will Ferrell who finds out his close friend of 30 years, Harper Steele, is coming out as a trans woman. The two decide to embark on a cross-country road trip to process this new stage of their relationship in an intimate portrait of friendship, transition and America.
