Sky takes a step into DC territory this September with the exclusive premiere of Batman spin-off The Penguin, plus boasts the return of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Blue Bloods, Funny Woman and Brassic. Mission to Burnley: Season 2 (Sky Documentaries, 9pm) – 1st September
It’s the 2023-2024 season. After bursting back into the Premier League in emphatic style, Burnley FC battle to try to survive in the top division playing the biggest clubs in the world. Pressure mounts on manager Vincent Kompany and owner Alan Pace, with the boardroom expecting results. Growing criticism from fans and pundits intensifies as Burnley strive to dig deep to stave off the threat of relegation. From boardroom to dressing-room, the series offers an unprecedented view of the escalating behind-the-scenes tension as the team scramble to try to engineer a last-gasp great escape, whilst an unexpected opportunity emerges for Kompany that could have far-reaching consequences for all involved. Alec Guinness: A Class Act (Sky Arts, 8pm) – 3rd September
Recounted through family, friends and peers, explore the brilliant career of late Oscar winner Alec Guinness – beginning with his 1934 debut at the Playhouse Theatre. Guinness made the transition from Shakespearean theatre to the silver screen with ease. Told by family and friends who knew and worked with him, with contributions from his peers. Guinness’s own words will also be used to tell his story with archive interviews and voice recordings of his autobiography.
Blue Bloods: Season 14 (Sky Witness, 9pm) – 4th September
The Regan clan set the table for the final time as we begin the fourteenth and final season of Blue Bloods. As the season kicks off, Jaime goes under cover with a deadly human trafficking ring; Danny and Baez investigate a homicide connected to Darryl Reid, Danny’s old partner, while Frank grapples with whether to publicly support Mayor Chase on a policy decision. Rob & Romesh vs Heavy Metal (Sky Max, 9pm) – 4th September
Things are going to get loud for the usually mellow pairing of Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan as they head to Download Festival to perform in front of 4,000 die-hard heavy metal fans. Helping on their way will be a band that describe themselves as “Pure Scottish Metal”, Bleed from Within. As they try to educate Rob and Romesh in the ways of the headbanger in time for a surprise performance of Enter Sandman, the duo will also be getting some extra tips from US rock stars Wheatus and Queens of the Stone Age. Funny Woman: Season 2 (Sky Max, 9pm) – 6th September
Sophie (Gemma Arterton) is on a high. She is the nation’s favourite TV comedy star; she’s got a group of good friends and her romance with Dennis is full of promise. As murder shatters the peace of villages across Britain, follow the investigations into the most heinous of crimes, searching for clues, analysing evidence and unpicking lies. Black Widow: Season 1 (Sky Documentaries, 9pm) – 15th September
Black Widow follows the decade-long police investigation into one of Britain’s most dangerous female murderers. Over 20 years, Dena Thompson, known as ‘The Black Widow’, carried out a sustained campaign of fraud, deception, bigamy and murder. This three-part series includes first-hand testimony from those affected, with exclusive access to her first husband – who ended up homeless believing he was on the run from the mafia. Chris Ramsey: Live from London (Sky Comedy, 9pm) – 18th September
Recorded at the iconic Royal Court Theatre in London, this stand up special will see award-winning comedian Chris Ramsey hilariously lift the curtain on his domestic frustrations and flawed attempts to be a good parent, as well as reveal his total humiliation at home and behind the scenes on Strictly.
The Penguin: Season 1 (Sky Max, 9pm) – 20th September
Starring Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb (aka “The Penguin”), the eight-episode DC Studios drama series continues the epic crime saga that filmmaker Matt Reeves began with Warner Bros. Pictures’ global blockbuster “The Batman”, and centres on the titular gangster as he moves to become the kingpin of Gotham City’s underworld. Episodes arrive weekly.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon: Season 2 (Sky Max, 2am) – 30th September
Season 2 of the spin-off picks up where The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon left off, following Daryl Dixon (Reedus) and Carol Peletier (McBride). They both confront old demons while she fights to find her friend. Additionally, Genet (Anne Charrier)’s movement builds momentum, setting Pouvoir on a violent collision course with the Union of Hope in the fight for France’s future.
SEAL Team: Season 7 – Date TBC
The hit military drama SEAL Team scrambles for the last time as we reach the seventh and final season. Jason Hayes (David Boreanaz) struggles to balance his warrior’s existence with the responsibilities of single fatherhood. Ray Perry, his trusted second in command, questions whether he will be able to leave the battlefield behind as his retirement nears.
Brassic: Season 6 – Date TBC
After an epic end to the last season, the gang are back with as much wild adventure and hilarity as ever. Reeling from the explosive encounter with Manolito, they set about getting their lives back in order. Only now the landscape is changing, people are getting older and the question of growing up looms in the air. But what does ‘growing up’ mean to a bunch like this? Season six is a madcap journey involving man-eating crocodiles, bigamists and a naked cult. The MacDonagh’s are creating trouble again, stepping it up a gear as they get high on new- found power. And amongst all this, we’re taken on an emotional rollercoaster with some heartfelt goodbyes and new love interests on the horizon.

Lovely, Dark and Deep – 1st September
Lennon, a new back-country ranger, travels alone through the dangerous wilderness, hoping to uncover the origins of a tragedy that has haunted her since she was a child. Starring Theresa Campbell (Barbarian), Wai Ching Ho (Hustlers, Turning Red), Nick Blood (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D) and written and directed by Teresa Sutherland in her directorial debut.
The Three Musketeers: Part II – Milady – 6th September
The second part of director Martin Bourboulon’s adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ swashbuckling classic. In a kingdom divided by religious wars and under threat of British invasion, a handful of men and women will battle and tie their fate to that of France.
Moving On – 7th September
Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin star as estranged friends who reunite to seek revenge on the petulant widower (Malcolm McDowell) of their recently deceased best friend. Along the way, Fonda’s character reunites with her great love (Richard Roundtree) as each woman learns to make peace with the past and each other.
Head Count – 8th September
A gun is pointed to Kat’s (Aaron Jakubenko) head. It’s his gun. Or at least it was after he escaped a chain gang and stole it. Luckily for him though, it’s not fully loaded. But how many bullets are left? He can’t quite remember. And now, with an unknown assailant pulling the trigger, Kat is forced to recall exactly what happened to each bullet.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom – 13th September
After failing to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta wields the power of the mythic Black Trident to unleash an ancient and malevolent force. Hoping to end his reign of terror, Aquaman forges an unlikely alliance with his brother, Orm, the former king of Atlantis. Setting aside their differences, they join forces to protect their kingdom and save the world from irreversible destruction.

I Used to Be Funny – 15th September
I Used To Be Funny is a dark dramedy that follows Sam Cowell (Rachel Sennott), an aspiring stand-up comedian and au pair struggling with PTSD, as she decides whether or not to join the search for Brooke (Olga Petsa), a missing teenage girl she used to nanny.
Hounds of War – 20th September
Frank Grillo, Robert Patrick and Rhona Mitra star in this action thriller, following the best military mercenaries money can buy. Known as ‘The Hounds’, they take on the jobs that all others would class as “impossible”. When they are betrayed by their creator in a carefully planned trap set up to destroy them, only one is left alive. Gathering themselves back up, they undertake one last job – to avenge their fallen brothers.
Snack Shack – 21st September
Nebraska, 1991. Dreaming of striking it rich, inseparable best friends AJ and Moose set out to fix up the local pool’s rundown snack shack.
Black Dog – 22nd September
Two teens from very different London backgrounds set out on a road trip to the North together. Heartfelt coming-of-age drama.
One Life – 27th September
The true story of Sir Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Winton, a young London broker who, in the months leading up to World War II, rescued 669 predominantly Jewish children from the Nazis. Fifty years later, it’s 1988 and Nicky lives haunted by the fate of the children he wasn’t able to bring to safety in England; always blaming himself for not doing more. It’s not until a live BBC television show, ‘That’s Life’, surprises him by introducing him to some surviving children – now adults – that he finally begins to come to terms with the guilt and grief he had carried for five decades.
