It’s a star-studded month of films on Netflix this October, including Mila Kunis in Luckiest Girl Alive, Naomi Watts in The Watcher, Charlize Theron and Kerry Washington in The School for Good and Evil, Joel Edgerton in The Stranger and Eddie Redmayne and Jessica Chastain in The Good Nurse. It’s also a starry line-up of talent behind the camera for a string of spooky series for Halloween, including Mike Flanagan’s The Midnight Club and Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities.

Netflix’s so-bad-it’s-good baking contest returns for another round of failed and rushed concoctions.

Aftershock: Everest and the Nepal Earthquake – 6th October

Survivors’ firsthand accounts and actual footage fuel this emotional docuseries about the deadly 2015 earthquake that shook Nepal.

Conversations with a Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes – 7th October

Serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer confesses to his gruesome crimes in unguarded interviews, offering an unsettling view into a disturbed mind.

Luckiest Girl Alive – 7th October

A writer’s perfectly crafted New York City life starts to unravel when a true-crime documentary forces her to confront her harrowing high school history. Mila Kunis stars in this drama directed by Mike Barker and written by Jessica Knoll.

The Midnight Club: Season 1 – 7th October

At a manor with a mysterious history, the 8 members of the Midnight Club meet each night at midnight to tell sinister stories – and to look for signs of the supernatural from the beyond. Based on the beloved Christopher Pike book series, adapted by Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House) and Leah Fong.

The Mole: Season 1 – 7th October

Netflix brings back one of the best reality TV shows ever devised. Originating as a Belgian series in 1998 called De Mol, it went on to inspire numerous international versions, including a US version that ran for five seasons and a UK version that ran on Channel 5 for two seasons. The series is essentially Mission: Impossible meets Big Brother, with 12 players teaming up take on a range of physical challenges in order to win money for their group prize pot. But one of them is an insider, a saboteur… a mole. As they attempt to stop the group winning money – adding the sum to their own private piggy bank – the wider team must work out who the mole is. Netflix’s US revival will be presented by MSNBC anchor Alex Wagner. Competing will be a mix of students, pilots, warehouse workers and firefighters — oh, and a mole. Five episodes arrive together, followed by three episodes on 14th October and the final episodes on 21st October.

The Watcher: Season 1 – 13th October

Bobby Cannavale and Naomi Watts star in this eerie ensemble drama based on a true story from Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan. After the Brannock family moves into what was supposed to be their suburban dream home, it quickly becomes a living hell. Ominous letters from someone calling themself “The Watcher” are just the beginning as the neighborhood’s sinister secrets come spilling out.

Black Butterflies: Season 1 – 14th October

Low on inspiration for his second book, a gloomy novelist agrees to write a memoir for a dying man — and swiftly becomes part of his bloodstained past.

Somebody Feed Phil: Season 6 – 18th October

Phil experiences the diverse city by munching on mind-blowing bagels and chicken, dining with a cheeky chef and pigging out on a wildly decadent meal.

The School for Good and Evil – 19th October

Best friends Sophie and Agatha find their bond put to the test when they’re whisked away to a magical school for future fairy-tale heroes and villains. Based on the bestselling books by Soman Chainani, Paul Feig’s film stars Sofia Wylie, Sophia Anne Caruso, Charlize Theron and Kerry Washington – not to mention Laurence Fishburne, Michelle Yeoh, Peter Serafinowicz, Rob Delaney, Mark Heap, Patti LuPone and Rachel Bloom.

Love is Blind: Season 3 – 19th October

Nick and Vanessa Lachey host this social experiment where single men and women look for love and get engaged, all before meeting in person.

The Stranger – 19th October

A small circle of seasoned undercover cops must pose as a vast and influential criminal network to catch a murderer who has evaded conviction for eight years. Joel Edgerton and Sean Harris star in Thomas M Wright’s crime thriller.

Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities: Season 1 – 25th October

Guillermo Del Toro presents an anthology of sinister stories, told by some of today’s most revered horror creators – including the directors of The Babadook, Splice and Mandy.

The Good Nurse – 26th October

An overburdened ICU nurse leans on her selfless new colleague at work and at home — until a patient’s unexpected death casts him in a suspicious light. Eddie Redmayne and Jessica Chastain star in Tobias Lindholm’s true crime drama.

Earthstorm: Season 1 – 27th October
