What’s coming soon to Netflix UK in November 2018?
David Farnor | On 24, Oct 2018
Christmas is coming early for Netflix subscribers this year, and not just because the streaming giant has got four new festive films arriving this November. The month is a bumper stocking of delights that are lining up to be binged over the winter season, from House of Cards’ finale season and the return of The Sinner to the debut of new Narcos spin-off Narcos: Mexico, additional episodes of F is for Family and Mystery Science Theater 3000, plus the premiere of Netflix’s new animated She-Ra reboot.
Netflix’s original films also step up a gear, with the Coen brothers’ superb The Ballad of Buster Scruggs and Chris Pine historical epic Outlaw King both hitting the service – joined by The Other Side of the Wind, nothing less than Orson Welles’ final film, restored and completed. That is joined by Morgan Neville’s essential documentary They’ll Love Me When I’m Dead, which explores Welles’ last years and the legendary unfinished movie.
Not that Netflix needs its own original films to keep us entertained: November welcomes a whole host of epic blockbusters, from The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Arrival to Children of Men, King Kong and Star Wars spin-off Rogue One. All of which, of course, is building up to the royal wedding we’ve all been waiting for, as Netflix’s A Christmas Prince gets a seasonal sequel.

Arrival – 11th November
Language is essential to life. It can define a community, it can exclude outsiders, and, at its most primal, cognitive level, it can, to some degree, influence the way we think. The thought of aliens touching down on our planet, then, is a linguist’s dream. So why do so many science fiction movies brush over it? Not so with Arrival. Denis Villeneuve’s film embraces that grammatical nerdiness with intelligence and emotion, taking the logic of first contact to profound heights not seen since Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
