What’s coming soon to Netflix UK in January 2023?

Netflix is kicking off the new year in style, with the debut of new series Kaleidoscope, Copenhagen Cowboy, That 90s Show and Lockwood & Co, the return of Vikings: Valhalla, plus the release of films The Pale Blue Eye and Pamela, a love story. And did we mention Season 2 of the adorable Old Enough?
Here’s what’s coming soon to Netflix UK in January 2023:
Old Enough: Season 2 – 1st January
This Japanese reality series that sends toddlers out on errands alone is a surprising, heartwarming delight.
Kaleidoscope: Season 1 – 1st January
Loosely inspired by the real-life story where seventy billion dollars in bonds went missing in downtown Manhattan during Hurricane Sandy, Kaleidoscope comprises eight episodes spanning from 24 years before the heist to 6 months after. Created by Eric Garcia, the series follow a crew of masterful thieves and their attempt to crack a seemingly unbreakable vault for the biggest payday in history. Guarded by the world’s most powerful corporate security team, and with law enforcement on the case, every episode reveals a piece of an elaborate puzzle of corruption, greed, vengeance, scheming, loyalties and betrayals. How did the crew of thieves plan it? Who gets away with it? Who can be trusted?
The Age of Innocence – 1st January
New York aristocrat Newland Archer strains the intransigent mores of Gilded Age society when he falls for his fiancée’s scandalous cousin.
How I Became a Gangster – 4th January
An ambitious gangster works his way up the ranks of Warsaw’s criminal underworld, and ultimately takes his shot at the big time.
MADOFF: The Monster of Wall Street: Season 1 – 4th January
This docuseries follows the rise and fall of financier Bernie Madoff, who orchestrated one of the biggest Ponzi schemes in Wall Street.
Copenhagen Cowboy: Season 1 – 5th January
Nicolas Winding Refn’s six-episode neon-noir series follows enigmatic young heroine, Miu. After a lifetime of servitude and on the verge of a new beginning, she traverses the ominous landscape of Copenhagen’s criminal netherworld. Searching for justice and enacting vengeance, she encounters her nemesis, Rakel, as they embark on an odyssey through the natural and the supernatural. The past ultimately transforms and defines their future, as the two women discover they are not alone, they are many.
Ginny & Georgia: Season 2 – 5th January
Buckle up peaches, Ginny & Georgia are back and they’re messier than ever.
Mumbai Mafia: Police vs the Underworld – 6th January
This docuseries takes us back to 1990s Mumbai, when a crime boss and his network wield unchecked power over the city — until the rise of “encounter cops”, who brazenly kill their targets.
Pressure Cooker: Season 1 – 6th January
Living under one roof, eleven chefs use culinary skills and strategic plays in a tense cooking contest where they vote on who among them will win $100,000.
The Pale Blue Eye – 6th January
Based on the 2006 book of the same name by Louis Bayard, Scott Cooper’s gothic drama takes us back to 1830, West Point, where a world-weary detective is hired to discreetly investigate the gruesome murder of a cadet. Stymied by the cadets’ code of silence, he enlists one of their own to help unravel the case — a young man the world would come to know as Edgar Allan Poe. Harry Melling (The Old Guard) will play Poe, with Christian Bale playing the lead detective. They’re joined by Gillian Anderson (The Crown) and Lucy Boynton (Bohemian Rhapsody).
The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker – 10th January
This shocking documentary chronicles a happy-go-lucky nomad’s ascent to viral stardom and the steep downward spiral that resulted in his imprisonment.
The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House: Season 1 – 12th January
Hirokazu Kore-eda serves as showrunner, director, and writer for this nine-episode series, based on the manga by Aiko Koyama. Set in the Geiko district of Kyoto, the protagonist Kiyo becomes a Makanai (person who cooks meals) at a house where Maiko (apprentice Geikos) live together. The story depicts the everyday life of Kiyo Maiko Sumire, her childhood friend who came with her from Aomori to Kyoto, amid a vibrant world of Geiko and Maiko courtesans and delicious food. Alongside Kore-eda, Genki Kawamura (Confessions, Villain, Your Name, MIRAI) will be producing. Up-and-coming directors such as Megumi Tsuno (Ten Years Japan), Hiroshi Okuyama (Jesus), and Takuma Sato (Any Crybabies Around?) are directing individual episodes
Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight: Season 2 – 12th January
Po and the crew are back and ready to leave China in pursuit of villainous weasels and magical weapons.
Vikings: Valhalla: Season 2 – 12th January
The follow-up to History’s hit original series begins in the early 11th century and chronicles the legendary adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who ever lived – Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), his fiery and headstrong sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson) and the ambitious Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter).
Break Point: Part 1 – 13th January
Travel alongside some of the world’s most talented tennis players as they swing for greatness and Grand Slams through an action-packed season.
Dog Gone – 13th January
When his beloved dog goes missing, a young man embarks on an incredible search with his parents to find him and give him life-saving medication.
Sky Rojo: Season 3 – 13th January
This thriller from the creator of Money Heist returns for a final chapter.
That 90s Show: Season 1 – 19th January
This legacy sequel series from That 70s Show creators Bonnie Turner and Terry Turner will see Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp reprise their roles as Red Forman and Kitty Forman. Set in 1995, it follows Leia Forman, daughter of Eric and Donna, who is visiting her grandparents for the summer, where she bonds with a new generation of Point Place kids under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern glare of Red.
Women at War: Season 1 – 19th January
As the German troops advance and men leave for the frontlines, four women must grapple with the devastating consequences of war at home.
JUNG_E (Korean) – 20th January
A new sci-fi action-drama from Hellbound director Yeon Sang-ho, starring Kang Soo-youn, Kim Hyun-joo and Ryu Kyung-soo.
Bling Empire: New York: Season 1 – 20th January
Dorothy Wang, Tina Leung, Lynn Ban and more star in this soapy spinoff of the hit reality series Bling Empire.
Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery – 25th January
Yeah, baby!
Lockwood & Co: Season 1 – 27th January
Based on Jonathan Stroud’s books, and written and directed by Joe Cornish, the series sees a girl with extraordinary psychic abilities join two gifted teen boys at a small ghost-hunting agency to fight the many deadly spirits haunting London. The detective thriller stars Ruby Stokes, Cameron Chapman, and Ali Hadji-Heshmati set to star alongside Ivanno Jeremiah, Luke Treadaway and Morven Christie.
The Snow Girl: Season 1 – 27th January
When a little girl goes missing during a parade in Málaga, a young newspaper journalist becomes fiercely determined to help Amaya’s parents find her.
You People – 27th January

Pamela, a love story – 31st January
In her own words, through personal video and diaries, Pamela Anderson shares the story of her rise to fame, rocky romances and infamous sex tape scandal. The documentary, which has been in the making for several years, is helmed by Ryan White, who has previously directed The Keepers and Ask Dr Ruth.
