Netflix delivers its last festive original film for 2024 this December, straight from the pen of Love Actually’s Richard Curtis. But there’s more adult fare to unwrap this holiday season, from spy thriller Black Doves to a new series from the creator of Dead to Me, Die Hard 2-esque thriller Carry-On, plus the return of Squid Game.

Here’s what’s coming soon to Netflix UK in December 2024:

Snowpiercer – 1st December

Bong Joon-ho’s dazzling and daft dystopian satire is chillingly relevant, even years after its release.

That Christmas – 4th December

Based on the charming trilogy of children’s books by beloved multi award-winning writer/director Richard Curtis (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Love Actually, Yesterday), That Christmas follows a series of entwined tales about family and friends, love and loneliness, and Santa Claus making a big mistake, not to mention an enormous number of turkeys!

Black Doves: Season 1 – 5th December

Set against the backdrop of London at Christmas, the six-part thriller follows Helen Webb (Keira Knightley), a quick-witted, down-to-earth wife and mother — and professional spy. Sam Young (Ben Whishaw) is a former assassin who comes home to a London that has moved on without him, while his past threatens to catch up with him. When Helen’s secret lover, Jason, is assassinated, Sam is tasked with protecting Helen as she investigates who killed Jason and why.

Scream VI – 6th December

This sixth entry in the horror franchise finds fresh fear in its expanded universe.

A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter – 7th December

In this special with musical guests, pop icon Sabrina Carpenter will perform songs from her holiday EP fruitcake and other iconic chart-topping holiday covers. This special will also feature show-stopping music performances, comedic guests, unexpected duets, plus many more surprises and fun cameos.

Puss In Boots: The Last Wish – 8th December

This self-aware, stunningly animated sequel is a surprising delight.

No Good Deed: Season 1 – 12th December

From the creator of Dead To Me comes this dark comedy series about Paul and Lydia, whose sale of their picture-perfect LA home forces them to face painful family secrets — and hide them from prying eyes and cutthroat buyers. Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano star.

Carry-On – 13th December

Every holiday season millions travel safely by air. This Christmas will be different, as Ethan Kopek (Taron Egerton), a young TSA agent, gets blackmailed by a mysterious traveller (Bateman) to let a dangerous package slip through security and on to a Christmas Day flight. Directed by Non-Stop helmer Jaume Collet-Serra.

The Batman – 17th December

Robert Pattinson is a brilliantly dark Batman in Matt Reeves’ gripping neo-noir thriller.

The Dragon Prince: Season 7 – 19th December

In the final chapter of Netflix’s animated series, the Fallen Star has returned – and his vengeance will bring eternal night.

The Six Triple Eight – 20th December

An army captain (Kerry Washington) leads her historic battalion of all-female soldiers as they face a mission unlike any other: to restore hope to WWII’s frontlines by delivering over 17 million backlogged letters.

The Kings of Summer – 22nd December

Stand By Me meets Son of Rambow in this infectiously energetic adventure about boys not becoming men.

Squid Game: Season 2 – 26th December

Down-on-his-luck dad Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), Season 1’s main character and Player 456 within the game, returns for this second round of Netflix’s darkly satirical thriller. Season 2 picks up three years after the events of Season 2, as Player 456 remains determined to find the people behind the game and put an end to their vicious sport. He starts with the most obvious of places: look for the man in a sharp suit playing ddakji in the subway. But when his efforts finally yield results, the path toward taking down the organisation proves to be deadlier than he imagined: to end the game, he needs to re-enter it.
