Disney’s Netflix rival is here, serving up Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar originals, along with a post-modern revamp of High School Musical and every episode of The Simpsons.

The Kardashians and Single Drunk Female are leading Disney’s line-up of April entertainment, along with the return of Dollface, but it’s the smaller additions that have us interested this month, from the superb documentary The Reason I Jump to a second chance to binge through Mrs America, after its BBC debut last year. And, after March’s underwhelming animated outing for Buck Wild, there’s the Ice Age spin-off that we’ve all been waiting for.

Better Nate Than Ever – 1st April

13-year-old Nate Foster has big Broadway dreams. There’s only one problem — he can’t even land a part in the school play. But when his parents leave town, Nate and his best friend Libby sneak off to the Big Apple for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to prove everyone wrong. The Reason I Jump – 1st April

The Reason I Jump is based on the bestselling book written by Naoki Higashida, a non-speaking autistic Japanese boy. The film weaves Naoki’s writings around stories of non-speaking autistic people across the globe, immersing the audience in their unique sensory worlds, full of intensity, richness and beauty and sometimes shadows and terror.

NCIS: Season 19 – 6th April

NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) is more than just an action drama. With liberal doses of humour, it’s a show that focuses on the sometimes complex and always amusing dynamics of a team forced to work together in high-stress situations. Episodes arrive weekly.

Ice Age: Scrat Tales – 13th April

A series of six all-new animated shorts starring Scrat, the hapless saber-toothed squirrel of the Ice Age adventures, who experiences the ups and downs of fatherhood, as he and the adorable, mischievous Baby Scrat, alternately bond with each other and battle for ownership of the highly treasured Acorn.

The Kardashians – 14th April

The family you know and love is here with a brand new series, giving an all-access pass into their lives. Kris, Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, Kendall and Kylie bring the cameras back to give truth to their stories. From the intense pressures of running billion-dollar businesses to the hilarious joys of playtime and school drop-offs, this series brings viewers into the fold with a rivetingly honest story of love and life in the spotlight. Episodes arrive weekly.

Single Drunk Female: Season 1 – 6th April

A public flame-out at a New York media company forces 20-something alcoholic Samantha Fink to seize the only chance she has to sober up and avoid jail time: moving back home with her overbearing mother, Carol. Back in Greater Boston, Samantha restarts her life, working at the local grocery store while surrounded by all of the triggers that made her drink in the first place. Confronted with remnants of her old life, including run-ins with her perfect former best friend, who is now dating her ex, Samantha sets out on a path to move past her worst self and figure out her best self. Kinda. All episodes arrive at once.

Le Mans ‘66 – 15th April

Top turns from Christian Bale and Matt Damon make this slick, fast-paced drama a rollicking ride whether you’re a racing fan or not.

Mrs America: Season 1 – 20th April

Cate Blanchett is brilliant in this playful, provocative, stylish and highly entertaining drama about the battle for women’s rights in the 1970s.

Sketchbook: Season 1 – 27th April

This new Disney+ original series features artists from Disney Animation.

Dollface: Season 2 – 27th April

Season 2 follows Jules (Kat Dennings) and her girlfriends – post pandemic, post heartbreak, heading toward turning thirty. Now that she’s reunited with her friends (Brenda Song, Shay Mitchell, and Esther Povitsky), Jules must balance keeping their group together as each woman sets on a path towards their next chapter and a deeper relationship with themselves. All episodes arrive at once.
