Apple TV+ has inked a first-look deal with Sharon Horgan.
The Catastrophe and Divorce creator is a sought-after talent both in front of and behind the camera, with her comedy co-starring Rob Delaney earning Emmy, BAFTA and Peabody awards. Indeed, Sharon Horgan and Amazon Studios previously inked a two-year first-look deal. Under that, she has a comedy green-lit to series likely to star her alongside Billy Magnussen, and Dirty, a drama in development in association with Peaky Blinders producer Caryn Mandabach Productions, Kapital Entertainment and Safe’s Danny Brocklehurst.
With that agreement expiring, Deadline reports that she has inked a fresh deal with Apple TV+. The multi-year agreement was signed through Apple’s UK arm, overseen by Jay Hunt, the former Channel 4 content chief who first commissioned Catastrophe.
The deal is the first major talent agreement signed by Apple in Europe, after the tech giant’s fledgling media service has lined up overall deals with Alfonso Cuarón, The Morning Show’s Kerry Ehrin, Friday Night Lights’ Jason Katims and Fast & Furious helmer Justin Lin.
Horgan’s agreement with Apple TV+
The Apple contract is separate to the agreement that her production company, Merman, has inked with Sky Studios. That two-year overhead and development funding and first-look distribution agreement will give NBCUniversal Global Distribution the rights to international sales on certain projects.
