White Lines: Netflix orders new series from La Casa de Papel creator
31st July 2018
Netflix has ordered a new series from Alex Pina, the creator of La Casa de Papel.
The heist thriller, known as Money Heist internationally, has been a huge hit for the streaming giant, becoming its most-watched non-English-language series. It was little surprise, then, that Netflix not only ordered a third season of the show, but also signed an overall deal with Pina. White Lines will be the first series under that deal.
It will explore the mysterious disappearance of a legendary Manchester DJ in Ibiza. When his body is discovered 20 years later, his sister returns to the beautiful Spanish island to find out what happened. Her investigation will lead her through a thrilling world of dance music, super yachts, lies and cover-ups, forcing her to confront the darker sides of her own character in a place where people live life on the edge.
Pina is writer and showrunner on the project, and will exec produce alongside Cristina Lopez Ferraz for Vancouver Media.
The series also marks a reunion between Netflix and Left Bank, the producers behind royal blockbuster The Crown. Andy Harries and Sharon Hughff will executive produce White Lines for Left Bank.
