The Boys are back in town this summer, with Amazon Prime Video’s line-up for June led by the superhero series’ fourth chapter. It’s joined by a slew of documentaries, alt-fantasy epic My Lady Jane and Chris Pine’s Poolman.
Here’s what’s coming soon to Amazon Prime Video UK in June 2024:
Marlon Wayans: Good Grief – 4th June
Marlon Wayans: Good Grief showcases Wayans’ unique brand of comedy, blending physical humour and hilarious commentary, with a surprising amount of heart as Prime Video shares the key art. Taped at the iconic Apollo Theater in Harlem, comedy meets therapy as Wayans works through his grief after recently losing both of his parents. He shares how his father taught him to be a man, the requirements to join the “Dead Mama Club”.
Counsel Culture: Season 1 – 6th June
Nick Cannon, Dr. Ish Major, and Dr. Mike Dow helm crucial conversations for men. Joined by a diverse panel which includes celebrities, therapists, and athletes, the series delves into mental health, toxic masculinity, modern dating, and more. Challenging the silence often imposed by cancel culture, it provides an opportunity for understanding and growth—with no topic off-limits.
Poolman – 7th May
Poolman tells the story of Darren Barrenman (Chris Pine), a native Los Angeleno who spends his days looking after the pool of the Tahitian Tiki apartment block and fighting to make his hometown a better place to live. When he is tasked by a femme fatale to uncover the truth behind a shady business deal, Darren enlists the help of his friends to take on a corrupt politician and a greedy land developer. His investigation reveals a hidden truth about his beloved city and himself.
The Boys: Season 4 – 13th June
The world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power. Butcher has lost his job as The Boys’ leader. The rest of the team are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late. Episodes 1 to 3 arrive together, followed by episodes weekly until the finale on 18th July.
Power of the Dream – 18th June
This new documentary tells the empowering true story of how a group of professional women’s basketball players took on a WNBA team owner and rallied behind now-Senator Raphael Warnock, forever changing the landscape of their sport and the course of US politics.
Federer: Twelve Final Days – 20th June
Helmed by Asif Kapadia and director Joe Sabia, Federer: Twelve Final Days is an intimate follow-along through the final 12 days of Roger Federer’s illustrious career. Originally a home video never intended for public viewing, the film captures Federer at his most vulnerable and candid self, as he says goodbye to a game and the fans that shaped his life for the last two decades. Featuring interviews from legendary rivals and friends Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray, Federer: Twelve Final Days provides unprecedented access to the relationship between these unparalleled stars.
My Lady Jane: Season 1 – 27th June
Inspired by the best-selling book, My Lady Jane is a radical retelling of English royal history, in which King Henry VIII’s son Edward does not die of tuberculosis, Lady Jane Grey is not beheaded, and neither is her rascal of a husband Guildford. At the center of this rollicking new series is the brilliant and headstrong Jane who is unexpectedly crowned queen overnight and finds herself the target of nefarious villains coming for the crown (and her head)… My Lady Jane is an epic tale of true love and high adventure, where the damsel in distress saves herself, her true love, and then the Kingdom. All episodes arrive at once.
I Am: Celine Dion – 25th June
Directed by Irene Taylor, this documentary gives us a raw and honest behind-the-scenes look at the iconic superstar’s struggle with a life-altering illness. Serving as a love letter to her fans, this inspirational documentary highlights the music that has guided her life while also showcasing the resilience of the human spirit.
