Netflix has renewed Emily in Paris for a sixth season.

Written and exec-produced by Sex and the City creator Darren Star, the series follows Emily (Lily Collins), an ambitious 20-something marketing executive from Chicago who unexpectedly lands her dream job in Paris when her company, the Gilbert Group, acquires a French luxury marketing company — and she is tasked with revamping their social media strategy.

Season 5 arrived the end of last year and followed Emily as she travels to Rome for business – and pleasure. The Chicago-born marketing exec is tasked with launching an Agence Grateau office in the Eternal City, as she tackles a new relationship with luxury fashion heir Marcello Muratori (Eugenio Franceschini). But tensions rise in every corner of Emily’s life, and she’s pulled between the newness of Italy and her roots in France.

Season 5 amassed 26.8 million views globally in just 11 days, becoming the most-watched TV series in 24 countries on Netflix, including France, Italy, Brazil, and Germany. Darren Star was also recently awarded France’s highest civilian honor: chevalier de la Légion d’honneur.

Now, Netflix has already given Emily another reason to stay in Europe. Star commented: “There’s a lot of places I’d love to visit. But I think the show organically [follows] the storyline. The show is Emily in Paris. It’s never going to permanently leave its home base. But if I can take the audience on a journey somewhere else, I would love that … [It’s] fun to think about.”

Netflix has renewed Emily in Paris for a fifth season.

Written and exec-produced by Sex and the City creator Darren Star, the series follows Emily, an ambitious 20-something marketing executive from Chicago who unexpectedly lands her dream job in Paris when her company, the Gilbert Group, acquires a French luxury marketing company — and she is tasked with revamping their social media strategy.

Season 4 saw Emily head from Paris to Rome, via the French Alps, bringing new languages as well as romance to her agenda – while also working with on-and-off flirt buddy/neighbour/chef Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) to get towards a Michelin star, and navigating his relationship with his on-and-off girlfriend – and Emily’s friend – Camille (Camille Razat). And, of course, there’s the matter of her new beau, Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini)…

Season 4 ranked top on Netflix’s most-watched list when it premiered in August, racking up 19.9 million views in its first four days on the streaming service. It has remained on the list for four consecutive weeks since. Now, hot on the heels of Part 2 of Season 2 being released, Netflix has ordered a fifth season.

Lily Collins announced the Season 5 news during an appearance on Good Morning America.

“We’re thrilled with the incredible response to this season of Emily in Paris and excited to return for a fifth to continue Emily’s adventures in Rome and Paris!” said Darren Star in a statement. “Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome,” he added. “It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome.”

Emily in Paris is on the move for Season 4, with new European cities on the cards for the Netflix series.

Written and exec-produced by Sex and the City creator Darren Star, the series follows Emily, an ambitious 20-something marketing executive from Chicago who unexpectedly lands her dream job in Paris when her company, the Gilbert Group, acquires a French luxury marketing company — and she is tasked with revamping their social media strategy. The show, which jumped from Paramount to the streaming giant, stars Lily Collins, who also produces.

Now, Emily is heading from Paris to Rome, via the French Alps, bringing new languages as well as romance to her agenda. Season 4 picks up after Emily found out dramatic news about her on-and-off flirt buddy/neighbor/chef Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and his on-and-off girlfriend/Emily’s friend Camille (Camille Razat) in Season 3. Now, as Emily and Gabriel work together toward a Michelin star, two big secrets threaten to undo everything they’ve dreamed of. Meanwhile, Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) is forced to confront a thorny dilemma from her past for the sake of her marriage as the Agence Grateau team navigates personnel shake-ups. And Mindy (Ashley Park) and the band are forced to get thrifty when they run out funds preparing for Eurovision. Also returning for Season 4 will be Samuel Arnold as Julien, Bruno Gouery as Luc, William Abadie as Antoine Lambert, and Lucien Laviscount as Emily’s ex-boyfriend, Alfie.

You can see them all in action on 15th August, when Part 1 of Season 4 arrives on Netflix, followed by Part 2 on 12th September.
