Jason Bateman, Josh Gordon and Will Speck are reuniting to make The Chaperone for Netflix.
The trio have partnered multiple times before on comedies including The Switch and Office Christmas Party, with Bateman starring in both and Gordon and Speck at the helm.
Bateman, in recent years, has become more active behind the camera, forming production company Aggregate with producer Michael Costigan. In 2018, the company inked a first-look, multi-year deal with Netflix across both film and TV projects. Aggregate recently produced Richard Linklater’s Hit Man, which was snapped up by Netflix in a $20 million deal. Bateman is no stranger to Netflix as an actor either, having starred in the streamer’s drama Narcos. (In front of the camera, Bateman most recently appeared in Air.)
The Chaperone will be produced by Bateman, Michael Costigan and Amanda Anka for Aggregate Films, while Josh Gordon and Will Speck will also produce for Speck Gordon Inc. Drew Brennan at Aggregate and Eric Fineman at Speck Gordon Inc will supervise.
Plot details about the new film are tightly under wraps, but the script will be penned by Jimmy Warden, fresh from giving the world Cocaine Bear.
