Hannibal: Denzel Washington, Antoine Fuqua team up for Netflix epic

Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua are reteaming to take on the epic story of Hannibal, one of the most famous military commanders in history.
The film will bring together the Oscar winning actor and his regular collaborator, the helmet of both Training Day and The Equalizer films. It will chart the battles that the Carthaginian general led against the Roman Republic in the Second Punic War, during which he led an army of fighters and elephants across the Alps.
The movie is written by John Logan (Gladiator, The Aviator, Hugo) and is produced by Fuqua’s production company, Hill District Media. The company has a first-look deal with Netflix, following its success with The Guilty starring Jake Gyllenhaal for the streamer. The deal primarily covers films and documentary features. Both Washington and Fuqua will produce the untitled project.
