Walter Presents turns five years old this coming spring, and it’s still continuing its run of impressively curated and remarkably consistent foreign-language TV shows brought to UK screens for the first time.

Hailing from countries as diverse as Japan, France, Brazil and Mexico, not to mention a whole host of Scandinavian thrillers and mysteries, the result has been a treasure trove of box sets to suit any taste. Alas, as the treasure trove continues to fill up, some of those gems will be removed to make way for new treats – and so it is that Walter Presents prepares to bid farewell to a wave of titles on 31st August.

Walter Presents’ first Croatian programme is a dark crime thriller that takes us behind the bars of the oldest prison in Croatia, which is ordered to be demolished as it does not adhere to the newly introduced EU regulations. Journalist Lucia Car is sent to cover the story, but when she comes across a graveyard for the unclaimed bodies of deceased inmates, she knows there is more to be uncovered.

Deadly Money

This taut German thriller sees banker Jochen Walther falls to his death after closing the deal of a lifetime. Was it suicide or murder?

The Mind of a Murderer

Another German gem, this crime drama follows a detective with an unorthodox approach dealing with a string of grisly cases.

Flight HS13

Originally a Turkish series adapted for Dutch audiences, called Vlucht 13, it follows the aftermath of a plane crash that kills all of its passengers on board. But before you think you know what to expect from the drama, it takes a gigantic left-turn, and you’re never quite sure where it will veer next for the next 10 hours.

Acquitted: Season 2

The gripping thriller, which takes place in the devastatingly beautiful Norwegian Fjords, sees successful business man Aksel Borgen (Nicolai Cleve Broch) return to his home town of Lifjord to save an ailing local firm from bankruptcy. Despite being acquitted for the murder of his high school sweetheart, Karine, two decades ago, Aksel is still haunted by his past and his return opens old wounds for the villagers.

Lifeline

From the creators of Locked Up, this Spanish thriller follows a surgeon who has an emergency heart transplant to save his life, but soon starts experiencing what he suspects are the memories of his donor.

Framed

Hitchcockian is the word that springs to mind with this Dutch crime drama about a successful tech businessman who finds his wife leave him, an ex turn up dead and the rest of life spiralling further out of control.

Night & Day

Think you’ve seen dark Spanish drama? Think again. This shadowy drama delves into the underbelly of not only Barcelona but also the human condition, as we follow Sara, a forensic pathologist who escapes from her seemingly happy marriage through anonymous encounters with strangers at night.
