Summer’s here, and there’s no better time to run and frolic outside, but before you do, make sure you won’t miss the departure of your favourite film or TV show from Sky and NOW. Westworld: Season 1 and 2 – 25th August

In a futuristic theme park staffed by artificial beings, guests can live out their wildest fantasies. However, when the ‘hosts’ begin to run amok, the guests find themselves in a world where anything can happen. Adapted from the Michael Crichton film by a team including JJ Abrams and Jonathan Nolan, and starring Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris and Thandie Newton, if you missed HBO’s sci-fi series, this is your chance to catch up before Season 3.

Nathan For You: Season 4 – 25th August

One of the best TV shows you haven’t heard of, this US docu-reality comedy sees comedian Nathan Fielder use his business degree and life experiences to help actual small businesses turn a profit. A sharp-edged satire of commercialism, stuffed with amusingly over-the-top marketing ideas.

Blade Runner 2049 – 27th August

Denis Villeneuve’s remarkable sci-fi sequel is a profound evolution of the timeless original.

Panic Room – 31st August

David Fincher’s underrated home invasion thriller is worth watching just for the breakout turn from a young Kristen Stewart.

Grosse Pointe Blank – 31st August

What have you been doing since you left high school? For John Cusack’s Martin Blank, the answer is easy: he kills people for money. George Armitage’s gun-toting comedy, which boasts stellar supporting turn from Minnie Driver, Alan Arkin and Dan Aykroyd, sees Cusack in his heyday, just after the winning Bullets Over Broadway and before The Thin Red Line and Con Air. Great fun.

IT (2017) – 10th September

Stephen King’s 1986 novel – previously adapted into a TV miniseries starring the scenestealing Tim Curry – gets the big-screen treatment, with Mama director Andy Muschietti ably pulling the strings. Bill Skarsgård (Hemlock Grove) takes over from Curry as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, the malevolent, shape-shifting demon who drags little Georgie Denbrough into the sewers of Derry, Maine – an act which prompts guilt-ridden older brother Bill (Midnight Special’s Jaeden Lieberher) to go looking for answers.

Miller’s Crossing – 11th September

You can tell a lot about a film from its hats. The Coen brothers’ struck masterpiece status early with their 1993 gangster drama, which sees Albert Finney and Gabriel Byrne caught up in women, money and revenge. Everything about it is classy, from Carter Burwell’s rousing score to a shootout to the tune of Danny Boy. The hats, needless to say, are terrific.

Marshall – 10th September

Chadwick Boseman is on hugely winning form as Thurgood Marshall in this likeable legal drama.

Battle Of The Sexes – 18th September

Based on one of the most watched tennis matches of all time, Battle of the Sexes follows the true story of women’s tennis star Billie Jean King (Emma Stone) who is challenged to an exhibition match by former male champion Bobby Riggs (Steve Carell).

Thor: Ragnarok – 18th September

A joyous reminder that superhero movies can simply be a whole lot of fun.

Murder On The Orient Express – 25th August

Kenneth Branagh’s enjoyably old-fashioned Agatha Christie adaptation finds fresh depths to the moustached detective.
