Borat: Cultural Learnings Of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazakhstan – 31st March

Sacha Baron Cohen’s fictitious Kazakhstani journalist journeys to America for this entertaining satirical mockumentary.

Contagion – 3rd April

Steven Soderbergh’s film about a plague spreading across the planet is not only scarily believable but grippingly tense.

Black Sails: Season 1 to 4 – 2nd April

Produced by Michael Bay, Starz’s pirate prequel, set before the events of Treasure Island, charts the bloodthirsty career of Captain Flint, the rise of Long John Silver and the growing dispute between the British Empire and the independently-minded Nassau. Toby Stephens is brilliantly nasty as our lead, while the nautical set pieces are frequently breathtaking.

The Personal History of David Copperfield – 2nd April

Armando Iannucci’s quick-witted, modern period drama is an absolute delight.

A Star Is Born – 10th April

Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga shine in this foot-stomping tearjerker of a musical, which heads to Netflix UK in April.

An Education – 14th April

An intoxicating slice of 1961 that’s hard to resist.

Bad Moms – 16th April

Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell and Kathryn Hahn have comic chemistry to burn in this entertaining comedy.

Sense and Sensibility (1996) – 17th April

Ang Lee’s take on Sense and Sensibility features a stellar script from Emma Thompson, who also joins an impressive cast that includes Kate Winslet, Tom Wilinson, Hugh Grant and – most importantly – Alan Rickman in a hat as Colonel Brandon.
