February is about to depart and, as the shopping basket of time glides through the checkout of destiny, we notice a few unexpected items in the package area that have fallen out – because, like a poorly thought-out supermarket analogy, streaming rights to several titles usually expire at the end of each month and not all of them get renewed.

For Amazon Prime Video customers, that doesn’t always spell the end of the world: long-time subscribers to the VOD service will be aware that many titles leave and come back again a few months later, then continue to repeat that cycle for eternity. But there are some on the list below that we would say are unlikely to return, from the opening seasons of Grimm and Parks and Recreation to Power Rangers. (Warning: If you have a child with a fanatical devotion to Power Rangers, 7th March will not be a happy day in your household.)

There are also a lot of things set to expire without a confirmed date, which, again, is not necessarily cause for alarm: titles we’ve listed with a TBC removal date may not leave until April, May or even June – consider this a nudge to get on with watching them sooner rather than later, just to be on the safe side.

Curiously, though, this month’s list does contain a lot of BBC shows, which suggests that the BBC could be about to end a lot of its streaming deals with subscription services in the UK in order to highlight its own combination of BBC iPlayer and BBC Store – not unlike the Channel 4 on-off situation that happened relatively recently on both Amazon Prime Video and Netflix UK. With most Channel 4 shows back on Amazon Prime Video now, though, there is still a chance that Amazon’s deals could be renewed in the near future. (We’ve reaching out to the relevant parties for comments, so watch this space.)

In the meantime, here’s what’s leaving Amazon Prime Video UK in February and March 2016:

Parks and Recreation: Season 1 and 2 – 29th February

The bad news? You’ll have to bid farewell to two seasons of everyone’s favourite over-enthusiastic local official, Leslie Knope. Also, Chris Pratt. The good news? Amazon says Season 3 will still be available after 29th February. (And the show really does get better as it goes on.)

Grimm: Season 1 and 2 – 29th February

Detective Nick Burkhardt carries out his Buffy-like duty of hunting down nasty monsters in this series inspired by the tales of the Brothers Grimm. Once Upon a Time not dark enough for you? Try this. (Season 3 will again still be available after 29th February, according to Amazon, while we believe Season 1 is also being removed from Netflix UK on the same day.)

Casablanca – 2nd March

Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman are electric in this classic romance set in Morocco during the early days of World War II, as the jaded owner of a gin joint unexpectedly crosses paths with his former lover.

Doctor Zhivago – 2nd March

David Lean’s sweeping take on Boris Pasternak’s novel, starring Omar Sharif and Julie Christie.

The Lucky One – 3rd March

Zac Efron andTaylor Schilling share the screen in this sugary adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ novel.
