Young Vic to stream Cush Jumbo’s Hamlet online

Cush Jumbo is stepping into Hamlet’ shoes this autumn for a bold new take on Shakespeare’s iconic play – and for those unable to get a ticket to the sold-out production, the Young Vic Theatre will be streaming the play online.
Directed by Greg Hersov and co-starring Jonathan Ajayi, Joana Borja, Adrian Dunbar and Tara Fitzgerald, the play will be streaming at 7pm from Thursday 28th to Saturday 30th October, with an additional stream at 2pm on the Saturday.
Tickets cost £15 or £20, with the higher price enabling the Young Vic’s Best Seat in Your House system – a new immersive, multi-camera broadcast that gives you a choice of views while streaming.
The innovative step offers a new experience with every watch, as audiences can sit in the virtual Director’s Chair – a feature that’s similar to sitting in the editing gallery at a TV studio, with control of switching between multiple live streams. Viewers can cut between any of the cameras placed around the theatre at any time throughout the live performance.
Alternatively, the standard “Director’s Cut” option delivers a more traditional live edit of the show from the theatre to the screen, created with the show’s director and mixed by the production team.
Captions, audio description and British Sign Language will be available for every performance, with phones, tablets laptops and TV casting all supported.
Tickets are on sale now.
