Trailer: Vida Season 2 set for May release
David Farnor | On 16, May 2019
Vida is back on STARZPLAY this month for a second season, and a new trailer gives us our first look at the show’s return.
The series, which was an Audience Award–winner at the 2018 SXSW Film Festival, follows two Mexican-American sisters originally from East LA, who are forced to return to their old hood, where they are confronted by the past and the surprising truth about their mother’s identity.
The series is created, and executive produced by Tanya Saracho, Big Beach TV’s Robin Schwartz, Peter Saraf and Marc Turtletaub, as well as Stephanie Langhoff (“Togetherness,” The Bronze, The Skeleton Twins). It stars Melissa Barrera (“Club de Cuervos”) as Lyn, Mishel Prada (“Fear the Walking Dead: Passage”) as Emma, Ser Anzoategui (“East Los High”) as Eddy, Chelsea Rendon (Bright) as Marisol and Carlos Miranda (The Bling Ring) as Johnny.
Season 2 picks up as Lyn and Emma begin the monumental task of rebuilding their mother’s legacy — a crumbling bar and apartment building on the east side of Los Angeles — at a time when the local anti-gentrification uprising will stop at almost nothing to call out any and all cultural displacers.
The show’s sophomore run premieres on STARZPLAY as a box set on Thursday 23rd May, with all 10 episodes available at once. STARZPLAY is available via the Prime Video app or on Virgin TV, as an additional £4.99 a month subscription. Season 1 of Vida is already available to stream.
Following its world premiere at Tribeca this month, STARZPLAY has now released a trailer for Vida Season 2. Here’s the video:

Season 2 picks up as Lyn and Emma begin the monumental task of rebuilding their mother’s legacy — a crumbling bar and apartment building on the east side of Los Angeles — at a time when the local anti-gentrification uprising will stop at almost nothing to call out any and all cultural displacers. While navigating such obstacles, Lyn and Emma contemplate the relationships in their lives, including their own, and are forced to dig deep to unearth what their mother’s legacy means to them.
Season 2 will have its world premiere at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, before arriving on STARZPLAY to stream. All 10 half-hour episodes will be available to watch at once from Thursday 23rd May on STARZPLAY in the UK and Germany. STARZPLAY is a subscription streaming service that gives subscribers access to acclaimed STARZ series such as Mr. Mercedes and The Royals, along with its growing selection of exclusive STARZ Originals on the same day they launch in the US, including Counterpart and The Spanish Princess, as well as hit movies like The Hunger Games.
