Tudum: Netflix unveils schedule for online fan event

Netflix is getting in on the digital convention trend this weekend, with a global fan event held online.
Since the coronavirus outbreak, events such as Comic-Con that would normally pack thousands of fans into one place for panels, signings, previews and more have gone virtual instead, with Q&As and trailers unveiled for fans in their living rooms. In addition to Comic-Con At Home, which has now taken the digital route for two years in a row, DC Comics notably held “DC Fandome” online, while Netflix dipped its toe in the water with its own WitcherCon in July and Geeked Week in June.
The events give companies a way of generating buzz around trailers, new images and other updates without the cost (or carbon footprint) of hiring a venue and flying in its stars, while also, unlike Comic-Con, keeping the focus solely on their own projects.
And so, on Saturday 25th September, Netflix will host its inaugural “TUDUM: A Netflix Global Fan Event”. You can watch it live here:
When is it?
The event begins at 4pm UK time and will be streamed on Netflix’s YouTube channel, as well as on Twitter, Twitch and Facebook.
A pre-show will also take place, hosted by Mari Takahashi and Juju “Straw Hat Goofy”, which will kick off at 3.30pm on Netflix Geeked’s social media accounts. At 12pm UK time, another pre-show will spotlight Korean and Indian series and films along with anime title.
Running for three hours, the main event will feature more than 145 stars and 100 films and series, including Stranger Things, Bridgerton, The Witcher, Money Heist and Cobra Kai, as well as Red Notice, Don’t Look Up, Extraction, The Harder They Fall and The Old Guard.
What’s the schedule?
The line-up will include new trailers and clips plus panels and conversations with creators and stars.
4pm to 5pm
Comedian Lilly Singh will host the first hour, which includes an exclusive clip from the new heist film Red Notice, first looks at the latest seasons of Bridgerton and Ozark, and a “special Stranger Things surprise”.
