Fresh from the Edinburgh Film Festival, She’s Missing will be available to watch online this July.
Alexandra McGuinness’s desert thriller is a complex portrait of female friendship and small-town yearning. It stars Lucy Fry (Godfather of Harlem, Bright), Eiza Gonzalez (Hobbs & Shaw, Godzilla vs. Kong), Josh Hartnett (Oh Lucy!, Penny Dreadful) and Christian Camargo (See, Days and Nights) and is written and directed by McGuinness (Lotus Eaters, Riders). The producers are Anna O’Malley, Dominic Wright and Eamonn Cleary, with financing from Screen Ireland and GCI Films.
The movie follows Heidi and Jane who are best friends living in a small town in New Mexico. When Jane, a Rodeo Queen contestant and military wife goes missing Heidi, now alone in the world, must begin a search across the desert for her friend. She digs up secrets and encounters the violence of life on the road, crossing paths with a series of unusual men and women in her search for an honest connection in a dishonest world.
McGuinness said of its Edinburgh premiere: “I’m thrilled She’s Missing is having its International premiere at Edinburgh. I’ve always wanted to have a film screen there. Edinburgh has such a history of supporting artists and helping audiences discover cinema. I think Edinburgh’s identity as a festival is perfect for She’s Missing which is a personal film that can straddle a line between being a crowdpleaser and an art film.”
For those who couldn’t make it to the festival, the film will be released on Monday 1st July on iTunes, Sky Store, Virgin Movies, Google Play, YouTube and Amazon Prime Video. Here’s the trailer:
