Riz Ahmed stars in Mogul Mowgli, the feature debut of director Bassam Tariq.
Tariq helmed the documentary short Ghosts of Sugar Land, which premiered at Sundance last year and won two prizes, before getting picked up by Netflix for worldwide release. Now, Tarique’s teamed up with Ahmed for his feature debut, which the two co-wrote.
The film follows a British Pakistani rapper (Ahmed) who, on the cusp of his first world tour, is struck down by an illness that threatens to derail his big break. The film will be part of the Dare Strand at this year’s 64th BFI London Film Festival, with cinema screenings starting from 5.25pm from Saturday 10th October. A virtual screening also follows at 6.30pm on the same day and is available until 6.30pm on Tuesday 13th October. The film will then have its general release in UK and Ireland cinemas on the 30th October.
