Netflix’s take on One Day will arrive this February, just in time for Valentine’s Day bingeing.
The series is based on the global best-selling book from author David Nicholls, which was adapted into the 2011 feature film starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess. This 14-episode reimagining once again tells the story of Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew – and a love story that spans 20 years.
On 15th July 1988, the night of their graduation, the pair speak for the very first time. The next morning, they go their separate ways but where will they be on this one ordinary day the next year, and the year after that, and every year that follows? Each episode finds Dex and Em one year older, as they grow and change, move together and apart, and experience joy and heartbreak.
Nicholls serves as executive producer alongside Roanna Benn, Jude Liknaitzky, and Nicole Taylor. Nige Watson is a series producer for One Day. Molly Manners, Kate Hewitt, John Hardwick, and Luke Snellin directed the episodes. Nicole Taylor is the show’s lead writer, with Anna Jordan, Vinay Patel, and Bijan Sheibani.
The series stars Ambika Mod as Emma and Leo Woodall as Dex, Essie Davis, as well as Tim McInnerny, Amber Grappy, Jonny Weldon, Eleanor Tomlinson, Joely Richardson and Toby Stephens.
You can see them in action on 8th February, when the series premieres on Netflix. Here’s the trailer:
