Netflix has cancelled skating drama Zero Chill after one season.

The live-action family series follows 15-year-old figure skater Kayla as her life is up-ended from Canada to the UK, when her twin brother, Mac, gets a place at a prestigious ice hockey academy. Distraught at her parents’ decision to put her brother’s ambitions before her own, Kayla must find her place on the ice again and step out from the shadow of her superstar twin.

The series, from All3Media-owned Lime Pictures (Free Rein, Dance Monsters, Hollyoaks, Evermoor Chronicles), stars Grace Beedle, Dakota Benjamin Taylor, Sarah-Jane Potts and Doug Rao. It is created by Doc Martin and Kirstie Falkous and John Regier, with a writers room overseen by Adam Usden (Ackley Bridge).

It premiered earlier this year in March but now, Netflix has decided not to renew it for any further episodes.

A Lime spokeswoman told Deadline: “There are currently no plans for a second season of Zero Chill. We are very proud of the show we made and its global success. Sheffield was a wonderful place to film in and we hope to return to the city with future projects.”
