Netflix is gearing up to release its latest Sundance acquisition this June, and a new trailer gives us a taste of the sci-fi thrills in store from I Am Mother.
The film, which had its premiere at Sundance this year before being snapped up by the streaming giant, follows a teenage girl (Clara Rugaard), who is the first of a new generation of humans to be raised by Mother (Rose Byrne), a robot designed to repopulate the earth after the extinction of humankind. But the pair’s unique relationship is threatened when an injured stranger (Hilary Swank) arrives with news that calls into question everything Daughter has been told about the outside world and her Mother’s intentions.
Directed by Grant Sputore, the film is based on a screenplay by Michael Lloyd Green, which was formerly on the Black List script. I Am Mother premieres on Netflix oh Friday 7th June. Here’s a trailer:
I Am Mother is available on Netflix UK, as part of an £9.99 monthly subscription.
