“Everyone felt they were there at the beginning of the great experment, like we were the chosen people.” That’s how the first bioterror attack in US history began, and new Netflix documentary Wild Wild Country tells the story.
The six-part series follows what happened when a controversial guru built a utopian city in the Oregon desert, resulting in a massive conflict with local ranchers and a national scandal, involving the largest case of illegal wiretapping ever recorded and the world’s biggest collection of Rolls-Royce automobiles.
Directors Chapman Way and Maclain Way (The Battered Bastards of Baseball) and executive producers Mark and Jay Duplass (Duplass Brothers Productions) take viewers back to this pivotal yet forgotten moment in American cultural history, one in which the nation’s tolerance for the separation of church and state was sorely tested.
You have to see to be a believer, promises the trailer for the film, which premieres worldwide on Friday 16th March. For more on what’s coming soon this month, click here – or read on for the video:
Wild Wild Country: Season 1 is available on Netflix UK, as part of an £9.99 monthly subscription.
