Trailer: Netflix’s The Cable Girls returns for fifth and final season
6th February 2019
“War is tragedy that for most people happens on new bulletins…” That’s the sound of Netflix’s Cable Girls returning for a fifth and final season.
The show, which first premiered in 2017, took us back to Madrid, 1928, when the national telephone company opened its headquarters in the city centre, drawing hundreds of girls to apply for a job as a “cable girl” in the only place that represented progress and modernity for women at the time. Since then, it’s moved forward through the years to follow Lidia (Blanca Suárez), Marga (Nadia de Santiago), Carlota (Ana Fernández) and Óscar (Ana Polvorosa), as they try to discover how their destiny unravels.
Season 5 will see the girls take very different paths towards what seemed like a promising future. The Spain they knew is divided into two sides, and after years of struggle and progress towards equality, freedom is being lost in a Civil War that will turn everything upside down.
Part 1 premieres on 14th February, with Part 2 to air at an unconfirmed future date. Here’s the trailer:
