“The more my mom objects, the more I’m determined to have the life I want.” That’s Hao Wu in Netflix’s new documentary, All Is My Family.
A deeply personal short film, the movie sees director Wu turn the camera on himself to examine how he built a family in America, but then had the dilemma of introducing his partner and children to his traditional family in China. With many of them unaware that he’s gay, even years after he came out to his parents, there are many decisions about acceptance to be made by all.
You can see what happens in intimate detail on 3rd May, when All In My Family premieres on Netflix. It joins a growing library of short documentaries on the streaming service, including Period. End of Sentence., End Game, The White Helmets and Extremis. Here’s the trailer:
All in My Family is available on Netflix UK, as part of an £9.99 monthly subscription.
