Apple renews Presumed Innocent for Season 2

Apple TV+ has renewed Presumed Innocent for a second season.
The eight-part drama is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Scott Turow and charts a journey through the horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney’s office when chief deputy prosecutor Rusty Sabich (played by Gyllenhaal) is suspected of the crime. It hails from showrunner David E Kelley (Ally McBeal, The Lincoln Lawyer, Big Little Lies) and is exec-produced by Kelley, Gyllenhaal and JJ Abrams.
“Jake Gyllenhaal leads an excellent cast in this slick, gripping courtroom thriller,” we wrote in our review of Season 1.
Now, ahead of the finale next week, Apple has ordered a second season, which will revolve around a new case.
David E Kelley and JJ Abrams, Gyllenhaal, Rachel Rusch Rich, Dustin Thomason and Matthew Tinker will return to executive produce, and author Scott Turow will serve as co-executive producer.

Jake Gyllenhaal is heading to Apple TV+ this summer for Presumed Innocent, and a new trailer gives us a first look at the legal thriller.
The eight-part drama is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Scott Turow and charts a journey through the horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney’s office when chief deputy prosecutor Rusty Sabich (played by Gyllenhaal) is suspected of the crime. The series explores obsession, sex, politics and the power and limits of love, as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together.
The show hails from showrunner David E Kelley (Ally McBeal, The Lincoln Lawyer, Big Little Lies) and is exec-produced by Kelley, Gyllenhaal and JJ Abrams. From Bad Robot Productions and David E Kelley Productions in association with Warner Bros Television, where Bad Robot is under an overall deal, the series is directed by Anne Sewitsky and Greg Yaitanes.
In front of the camera, Gyllenhaal is joined by Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, O-T Fagbenle, Chase Infiniti, Elizabeth Marvel, Nana Mensah, Renate Reinsve (The Worst Person in the World), Peter Sarsgaard and Kingston Rumi Southwick. You can see them in action on 12th June, when the first two episodes arrive on Apple TV+ – followed by new episodes weekly until the finale on 24th July.

Apple TV+ has ordered a new courtroom drama from David E Kelley (Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers).
Presumed Innocent is an eight-episode series based on the acclaimed book of the same name by Scott Turow. Kelley will serve as showrunner and executive producer alongside executive producers Dustin Thomason (Castle Rock), JJ Abrams and Bad Robot’s Ben Stephenson.
The drama tells the story of a horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney’s Office when one of its own is suspected of the crime. Multi-Emmy Award winner Kelley reimagines “Presumed Innocent,” exploring obsession, sex, politics, and the power and limits of love, as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together.
Presumed Innocent hails from Bad Robot Productions and David E Kelley Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Abrams and Stephenson executive produce for Bad Robot. In addition to writing, Kelley executive produces through David E. Kelley Productions alongside Matthew Tinker. Thomason also serves as executive producer. Scott Turow and Bad Robot’s Rachel Rusch Rich will serve as co-executive producers.
The book was previously adapted for the screen in 1990, directed by Alan J Pakula and starring Harrison Ford.
