The award-winning Chilean thriller Chameleon will be available to watch online in the UK this November, as the film arrives on digital platforms.
Directed by Chilean director Jorge Riquelme Serrano and shot in only four days, the film offers an unflinching look at Chilean society, exploring themes of class, race, gender and sexuality, accompanied by an award-winning track from acclaimed musician and composer Carlos Cabezas (Neruda, The Club, No).
The drama follows Paula and Paulina’s final day together in their summer home. But the arrival of an unexpected guest interrupts their intimate farewell, triggering a shocking transformation that reveals the darkest recesses of the human mind.
Chameleon had its word premiere at the 2016 BFI London Film Festival, where it was hailed as a “gruelling but stylish bourgeois nightmare”. It was nominated for the festival’s Sutherland Award (first feature competition) and North American premiere in competition at the 2017 Seattle International Film Festival. It was also nominated for a record 11 awards at the 2017 Pedro Sienna Chilean film awards, where it won Best Director, Best Female Lead (Paulina Urrutia) and Best Original Music (Carlos Cabezas). It has screened at festivals across the world, including Chile, Peru, Mexico and the Netherlands.
Now, the film is being released by Laberinto Films on Friday 10th November, when it will be available to stream on Amazon Video and BFI Player+. For more information, see the film’s official Facebook page – or stay tuned for our review.
