YouTube will chart the origins of GRM Daily in a new documentary, arriving this week.
Together We Rise: The Uncompromised Story of GRM Daily tells the story of how GRM Daily founder Posty, with the help of his peers and other platforms, helped to give new opportunities to a whole generation of new music talent. The four-part documentary tells the story of a generation through the game-changing YouTube channel and its founder Posty, the young entrepreneur who helped contribute towards giving a new generation of talent opportunities via a global platform, which in turn became a benchmark for their success.
Posty’s story is not only a story of excellence within Black British business and culture but synonymous with Grime and Rap. Seemingly from nowhere with the help of his peers, Posty and his team step up and, in the face of adversity, upheld their own convictions against the odds, succeeding and continuing to do so decades later.
Posty, GRM Daily founder, said: “It is exciting to be able to share this first glimpse of the documentary along with its story of the journey that GRM Daily has taken and how with, the help of artists and the community, collectively helped to put UK rap music on the map. We hope it acts as an inspiration and kick off point for many new artists in the next generation of British music.”
Kate Shepherd, MD, Warner Music Entertainment, added: “The history of GRM Daily is a truly remarkable story and one we felt needed to be told. Posty and his team are at the foundation of a scene that has taken over the mainstream. This documentary gives a fascinating insight into how they built a culture and a business against all odds.”
The documentary series, which was produced by Warner Music Entertainment, features an incredible cast including Skepta, Giggs, Stormzy, Julie Adenuga, Kano, Ghetts, Aitch, Ms Banks, JME, D Double E, Zane Lowe and Dizzee Rascal to name a few.
Its first episode will debut on YouTube on 28th September. Here’s the trailer:
