“Don’t touch anything.” Those are the famous last words that begin Thunder Force, Netflix’s superhero comedy starring Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer.
In a world where supervillains are commonplace, the film follows two estranged childhood best friends who reunite after one devises a treatment that gives them powers to protect their city – and the other can’t resist the urge to try it.
Written and directed by Ben Falcone, the film co-stars Jason Bateman as The Crab, and Bobby Cannavale as The King. You can see them all in action 9th April, when the movie premieres on Netflix.

Thunder Force: Octavia Spencer and Melissa McCarthy in talks with Netflix for superhero movie
3rd April 2019
Octavia Spencer and Melissa McCarthy are in talks with Netflix for a new superhero comedy, Thunder Force.
The streaming giant is no stranger to the world of superheroics, with a string of Marvel series (now effectively all cancelled) on its CV, alongside newly renewed The Umbrella Academy. It has not, however, ventured into the superhero movie territory favoured by Hollywood – although it did release Korean superhero flick Psychokinesis last year. That could change with Thunder Force.
Netflix is picking two heavyweight stars to do it: it’s in talks with Octavia Spencer and Melissa McCarthy to lead the project, which is written by Ben Falcone. Falcone, who is McCarthy’s husband, would also helm the comedy, and would be a reportedly mainstream comedy (read: not R-rated) and follow the duo playing two characters who get superpowers. Deadline broke the news, reporting that Falcone and McCarthy will produce the film, alongside Marc Platt, but further details or an official green light from Netflix have not yet been confirmed.
Spencer is no stranger to the streaming world: the Oscar winner stars in Apple TV+ drama Truth Be Told.
