The Shows Must Go On! returns this Monday to celebrate International Women’s Day.
The YouTube channel, which is run by NBC Universal, has provided free streams of a wide range of musicals and stage shows since the coronavirus outbreak last year. After a break over the Christmas and New Year, the channel is returning to our screens this week with an inspiring special from Letters Live.
Letters Live celebrates letter writing and the art of correspondence through live events where remarkable letters are read by a diverse array of outstanding performers. The sell-out live phenomenon has seen the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch, Juliet Stevenson, Ian McKellen, Caitlin Moran, Tom Hiddleston, Louise Brealey, Stephen Fry and Jude Law (and many others) deliver unique performances.
The International Women’s Day special will feature letters read aloud by a diverse array of luminaries, including Olivia Colman, Gillian Anderson, Daisy Ridley, Caitlin Moran, Rose McGowan, Adwoa Aboah and Louise Brealey. It will be streamed for free on YouTube in support of the WOW Foundation, which aims to build, convene and sustain a global movement that believes a gender equal world is desirable, possible and urgently required.
The show, which will also include music from Roxanne Tataei, will premiere at 7pm on Monday 8th March and be available to watch on-demand for 7 days.
