James R | On 27, Mar 2019
“Did you know Michelle got paid to take Barack Obama on a date? Look how that turned out!” “Is that even true?” That’s the sound of Noah Centineo returning to your screens as a young boy who dreams up his perfect way to get to college: by selling himself as The Perfect Date for other people.
Starring in both To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and Sierra Burgess is a Loser, Centineo has become the streaming giant’s first flagship heartthrob, with his Instagram following shooting up from 0.8 million before To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before to over 13 million. Now, he’s back as Brooks Rattigan, who, to raise funds for college, creates a dating app where he’ll “stand in” for non-existent boyfriends. But playing a different character every night of the week leads him to question who he really is, and who he wants to be with.
Centineo is joined by Riverdale’s Camila Mendes and Laura Marano (Lady Bird, Austin & Ally), with Chris Nelson (My Dead Ex) directing and Steve Bloom and Randall Green on scripting duties. The result premieres on Netflix on Friday 12th April. Here’s the trailer:
