The Midnight Gospel: Netflix orders animated series from Adventure Time creator
24th December 2019
Pendleton Ward is heading to Netflix for his new project, with the streaming giant ordering new animated series The Midnight Gospel.
The Emmy-winning creator of Adventure Time is continuing his animated smash hit, which concluded in 2018, on HBO Max with four specials starting in 2020. But he’s also looking to pastures new, with an eight-episode green light from Netflix for The Midnight Gospel.
Co-created with comedian Duncan Trussell, the show follows Clancy, a spacecaster with a malfunctioning multiverse simulator who leaves the comfort of his home to interview beings living in dying worlds. Deadline reports the series is set in a fantastical universe using interview clips from Trussell’s podcast, Duncan Trussell Family Hour.
Titmouse (Big Mouth) is the animation studio behind the series, which will air on Netflix in 2020.
