Sky to release new Jesse Armstrong film this spring

Sky is releasing a new film from Jesse Armstrong this spring – and it’s a seriously star-studded directorial debut.
Written, directed, and executive produced by the seven-time Emmy winner who created Succession, the film is Armstrong’s first feature at the helm. It will follow a group of billionaire friends who get together against the backdrop of a rolling international crisis.
The film stars Steve Carell (“The Four Seasons,” “The Patient”) as Randall, Jason Schwartzman (“The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” “Bored to Death”) as Hugo Van Yalk (Souper), Cory Michael Smith (“Saturday Night,” “May December”) as Venis and Ramy Youssef (“Poor Things,” “More Feelings”) as Jeff.
That’s remarkable enough, but what’s really quite astonishing is that the film is being shot this month in Park City, Utah – which means an unprecedented turnaround for its debut in the coming months.
Armstrong says: “I’m intrigued to discover whether being around so many brilliant actors and directors on Succession has in any way rubbed off on me. Let’s hope so. I’m grateful to Casey Bloys, Francesca Orsi and the whole HBO team for backing this film so wholeheartedly and helping me pull together a dream team of cast and crew.”
Exec-producers include Frank Rich, Lucy Prebble, Jon Brown, Tony Roche, Will Tracy, Mark Mylod, and Jill Footlick.
