Comic-Con: First trailer and new details for She-Ra Season 3
David Farnor | On 19, Jul 2019
She-Ra will return to Netflix for Season 3 this August, and DreamWorks was present at Comic-Con today to unveil the first trailer and new details of what’s in store.
The animated series offers a modern take on the character for a new generation and follows Adora, an orphan who leaves behind her former life in the evil Horde when she discovers a magic sword that transforms her into the mythical warrior princess. Along the way, she finds a new family in the Rebellion as she unites a group of magical princesses in the ultimate fight against evil.
The voice cast stars Aimee Carrero, alongside AJ Michalka, Karen Fukuhara, AJ Michalka, Marcus Scribner, Merit Leighton and Sandra Oh. Now, they’re being joined by the iconic Geena Davis, who has been added the ensemble as Huntara. A character from the original cartoon, Netflix’s series introduces her as the leader of the Crimson Waste, who’s reluctant to help Adora, Glimmer and Bow on a quest.
Executive producer and creator Noelle Stevenson and stars Carrero (She-Ra), Fukuhara (Glimmer), Scribner (Bow) and Ash (Scorpia) were on hand in San Diego to talk about the show. The panel teases how She-Ra’s journey into the Crimson Waste will lead to a showdown between Catra (Michalka) and new villain Tung Lashor (Jake Eberle).
“It’s just so great seeing people respond to the episodes that we all put our thoughts into… the prom episode is going to be the episode that’s so close to my heart,” said Stevenson, who promised that Season 3 is “gonna throw characters into situations they’ve never been in before”.
“This is the season where they’re all going to the Crimson Waste… and they’re so out of their element,” she added.
“We pick up right where we left off… we find both Adora and Catra thrown into whole new situations right away where Catra is in disgrace with the Horde and Adora is dealing with Shadow Weaver being here,” she added.
“I think Adora sees Shadow Weaver as like a dysfunctional mother figure,” she continued. “So there is love there so when she shows up on her turf… I think it throws her identity into a tailspin.”
As for Huntara, you can see your first look at Davis’ character above. You’ll be able to see them all in action on Friday 2nd August. Here’s the trailer:

She-Ra Season 2 poster unveiled
21st March 2019
Adora and Catra are going head to head this April, with the return of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power – and the first poster for the season gives us our first taste of the conflict in store.
Produced by DreamWorks Animation Television, the animated series offers a modern take on the character for a new generation and follows Adora (Aimee Carrero), an orphan who leaves behind her former life in the evil Horde when she discovers a magic sword that transforms her into the mythical warrior princess. Along the way, she finds a new family in the Rebellion as she unites a group of magical princesses in the ultimate fight against evil.
Season 2 sees Adora return, with former best friend Catra (AJ Michalka) firmly in her opposing corner. Also returning in the voice cast are Karen Fukuhara (Suicide Squad) as Glimmer, AJ Michalka (The Goldbergs) as Catra, Marcus Scribner (black-ish) as Bow, Merit Leighton (Alexa & Katie) as Frosta and Sandra Oh (Killing Eve) as Castaspella.
Noelle Stevenson is the showrunner and she has already hinted that the show’s sophomore run will be a “little bit more experimental”, with “a few weird, out-there” episodes, including one where it’s “essentially just a D&D campaign”. You can see the end result on Friday 26th April, when Season 2 premieres on Netflix. Here’s the poster:

Netflix renews She-Ra for Season 2
26th January 2019
She-Ra will return to Netflix, and sooner than expected, as Netflix has renewed its animated reboot of the classic series for a second season.
Produced by DreamWorks Animation Television, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power offers a modern take on the character for a new generation and charts the story of an orphan named Adora (Aimee Carrero), who leaves behind her former life in the evil Horde when she discovers a magic sword that transforms her into the mythical warrior princess. Along the way, she finds a new family in the Rebellion as she unites a group of magical princesses in the ultimate fight against evil.
Noelle Stevenson is the showrunner, and the voice cast includes Karen Fukuhara (Suicide Squad) as Glimmer, AJ Michalka (The Goldbergs) as Catra, Marcus Scribner (black-ish) as Bow, Merit Leighton (Alexa & Katie) as Frosta and Sandra Oh (Killing Eve) as Castaspella. You can see the trailer with them in action here.
Within a couple of months of its premiere in November, Netflix has already ordered more, and Stevenson has teased some details of what’s in store.
“There’s more drama. There’s mythology. We start to get more into the legend of She-Ra and the legend of the First Ones. We do meet some of our characters’ families. We see some of our characters like Catra, working their way up the ladder,” she told Newsarama.
“You are going to meet a few more princesses and princess-like characters in the next season. So stayed tuned for that. Those are going to be a fun reveal,” she continued.
“Some of our Horde characters get to shine a little bit more – Scorpia and Entrapta specifically get to really take a life of their own in the next season,” she added. “All these cool, fun, exciting things that we found in the first season we got to explore more in the second. Shadow Weaver just continues to be very Shadow Weaver, and her arc is especially interesting to me. I just find her so fun and interesting to write.
She also revealed that things will be a “little bit more experimental”, with “a few weird, out-there” episodes, including one where it’s “essentially just a D&D campaign”.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power will return to Netflix on Friday 26th April. Here’s the video announcing the renewal:
