Season 2 of The Red Road, Halt and Catch Fire and Turn will premiere on Amazon Prime Instant Video in the UK, the day after their US broadcast.
The three AMC shows first arrived on Amazon Prime at the beginning of this year, in a multi-year deal with Entertainment One, which handles the international distribution for original programming from AMC and Sundance TV. EOne has already formed a strong partnership with Amazon, with the online retailer having snapped up the exclusive SVOD rights to AMC’s The Walking Dead too.
With the first seasons of each series already available to stream on Amazon Prime, fans will now be able to enjoy the second runs of each show within 24 hours of their debut in the US.
The Red Road will return on Saturday 4th April, with new episodes then added every Saturday. It will be followed by Turn on Wednesday 15th April, with new episodes then arriving every Wednesday.
The Red Road follows two clashing communities, a small town and the neighbouring mountains, home to a Native American tribe. It stars Martin Henderson, Julianne Nicholson and Game of Thrones’ Jason Momoa. The show’s second season will span six episodes.
“The Red Road tells the tale of a shocking conflict which plays out in a very specific place – the land that the Native Americans live on literally oozes danger,” said Sundance TV president Sarah Barnett in a statement announcing the commission. “It’s a show about what happens when you try to bury the truth, and the devastating impact of that. We’re proud of this tremendously talented cast and can’t wait to see where creator Aaron Guzikowski takes this story in season two.”
Season 2 of Turn: Washington’s Spies will run for 10 episodes. The Revolutionary War drama, written by Craig Silverstein, is set in 1778 and follows a Long Island farmer, Abraham Woodhulll, who is recruited to spy on the Britis. With a group of friends, he forms The Culper Ring, which will ultimately turn the tide in the battle for independence.
The show stars Jamie Bell, Burn Gorman, Kevin McNally, Meegan Warner and Heather Lind.
“Craig Silverstein, Barry Josephson and a talented cast and crew delivered a truly distinctive and engaging premiere season. We look forward to continuing this revolutionary journey into season two,” said AMC president Charlie Collier.
“AMC and its creative partners have a track record of nurturing programs we collectively believe in, patiently growing viewership and engagement over time. With Turn, once again, we dive in with our partners to build upon this very promising first season.”
Halt & Catch Fire Season 2 will then be released on the UK on 2nd June. Set in the early 1980s, the show continues to chart the changing culture of Texas’ Silicon Prairie during the personal computing boom. The show stars Lee Pace as computer salesman Joe MacMillan.
“We are delighted that just 48 hours after broadcast these hard hitting US dramas will be available exclusively to UK audiences on Amazon Prime Instant Video,” says Chris Bird, Film & TV Strategy Director, Amazon Prime Instant Video. “We pride ourselves on being the home of great TV drama from around the world.”
