RuPaul’s Drag Race is back this weekend on Netflix UK with a Christmas special.

The reality competition series, which sees RuPaul search for America’s next drag superstar, has become a veritable sensation, winning fans the world over – including in the UK, where the show is available on Netflix. Now, after its 10th season finished this summer, the show has unveiled a festive one-off.

Titled RuPaul’s Drag Race: Holi-Slay Spectacular, the 40-minute episode brings back eight fan favourites from Season 10 all the way back to Season 2, as well as contestants from RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars. Participants include Eureka O’Hara, Jasmine Masters, Kim Chi, Latrice Royale, Mayhem Miller, Shangela, Sonique, and Trixie Mattel, with each one vying for the title of Drag Race Christmas Queen.

This is the second festive special to be released by RuPaul’s Drag Race, following a seasonal episode in 2015, which tied into RuPaul’s holiday album, Slay Belles, and featured music videos for its tracks. 2018’s Holi-slay Spectacular sees the contestants lip-sync to holiday music by RuPaul, including tracks from Slay Belles and RuPaul’s new album, Christmas Party (2018).

The special arrives as RuPaul’s Drag Race is also expanding to the UK’s drag scene, with RuPaul’s Drag Race UK commissioned by BBC Three this week.

The special is available to watch on Netflix UK from today, along with all 10 seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race. It joins a number of festive specials for other Netflix originals, including Nailed It!
