Roar: Apple TV+ unveils trailer for star-studded anthology

Eight stories, one roar. That’s the premise behind Apple TV+’s upcoming anthology series, and a new trailer gives a first look at its star-studded cast in action.
Based on the book by best-selling author Cecelia Ahern and led by female talent in front of and behind the camera, Roar explores experiences that many women have but rarely talk about. From bite marks to ducks, each of the 8 episodes uses magical realism and delivers an insightful, poignant, and sometimes hilarious portrait of what it means to be a woman today.
The series stars Nicole Kidman, Cynthia Erivo, Issa Rae, Merritt Wever, Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Meera Syal, Fivel Stewart and Kara Hayward. You can see them all on 15th April, when the series premieres on Apple TV+. In the meantime, here’s the genre-bending trailer:

Nicole Kidman and Cynthia Erivo are among the star names set to appear in Apple TV+ anthology Roar – and new images give us a first at them in action.
The female-driven series is based on a book of short stories by Cecelia Ahern and is the first to be released under creators and co-showrunners Carly Mensch and Liz Flahive’s (GLOW) overall deal with Apple TV+. Kidman stars and exec-produces, with the cast also including Cynthia Erivo, Issa Rae, Merritt Weverx Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Meera Syal, Fivel Stewart and Kara Hayward.
Roar offers an insightful, poignant and sometimes hilarious portrait of what it means to be a woman today. Featuring a unique blend of magical realism, familiar domestic and professional scenarios, and futuristic worlds, these eight stories mirror the dilemmas of ordinary women in accessible yet surprising ways. How they emerge from their respective journeys speaks to the resiliency that exists within themselves, and with all women.
Author Ahern executive produces through Greenlight Go and Theresa Park executive produces for her Per Capita Productions. Roar is produced for Apple by Endeavor Content.
The series will debut with all eight episodes released at once on Friday 15th April.

Nicole Kidman, Cynthia Erivo, Merritt Wever, Alison Brie and more are teaming up for Roar, a new anthology series for Apple TV+.
The collection of darkly comic feminist fables is based on a book of short stories by Cecelia Ahern. Created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch (GLOW), the eight-part, half-hour show is the first to be released under Mensch and Flahive’s overall deal with Apple.
In addition to starring, Kidman will executive produce alongside Per Saari via Blossom Films. Emmy Award-winning producer Bruna Papandrea, Steve Hutensky and Allie Goss will executive produce on behalf of Made Up Stories. Flahive and Mensch will create, showrun and serve as executive producers. Theresa Park will serve as executive producer for her Per Capita Productions and author Cecelia Ahern will executive produce through Greenlight Go. “Roar” will be produced for Apple by Endeavor Content.
Roar will join a growing line-up of Apple Original anthology series including Little America. The new series will also make its global debut on Apple TV+ alongside other female-led Apple Originals including Physical, a dramedy from creator Annie Weisman, and starring and executive produced by Rose Byrne that will premiere this summer; The Last Thing He Told Me, starring Julia Roberts, and written by Oscar winner Josh Singer and Laura Dave; High Desert, from creator and writer Nancy Fichman, and starring and executive produced by Patricia Arquette; Lessons in Chemistry,”starring and executive produced by Brie Larson, and written and executive produced by written by Susannah Grant; and the second season of The Morning Show.
