The Old Vic’s sell-out production of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, starring Richard Armitage, will be available to watch online from Tuesday 17th March 2015.
The classic American drama sees Richard Armitage (Spooks, The Hobbit) play John Proctor, a man who sees his town of Salem descend into a witchhunt, following accusations of black magic from Abigail Williams, with whom he had an affair.
Directed by Yaël Farber, the production was shown in cinemas following its London run. For those who missed it on stage, though, the play will be available to rent and download from DigitalTheatre.com.
It joins an impressive line-up of contemporary and classic plays available to stream on-demand, from Into the Woods to Richard Eyre’s Ghosts. Digital Theatre is compatible with desktop computers, iOS devices, selected Samsung Smart TVs also has its own YouView channel.
Producer John Richardson from The Old Vic said: “Yaël Farber’s mesmerising five-star production of The Crucible is one of the most successful and most acclaimed in The Old Vic’s history. We are excited to finally be sharing one of the theatrical events of a decade with audiences across the world, thanks to our friends at DigitalTheatre.com. Arthur Miller’s chilling, powerful and legendary work is truly a play for our times.”
