What/If a mysterious stranger made you an offer too extraordinary to refuse? That’s the question behind Netflix’s new thriller, starring Renée Zellweger.
The Bridget Jones’ Diary star plays Anne Montgomery, a ultimate game player. When Anne presents a young, cash-strapped couple with an incredible opportunity, they have to decide what they’re willing to risk for a chance to secure a badly needed financial windfall.
From Revenge creator Mike Kelley, the series is a raw, voyeuristic examination of acceptable people doing unacceptable things. It premieres on Friday 24th May. Here’s the trailer:
First look: What/If, starring Renee Zellweger, hits Netflix this May

Neo-noir social thriller What/If officially arrives on Netflix this May, and we’ve got our first look at its starry cast, including Renee Zellweger.
The series, announced last year, explores the ripple effects of what happens when acceptable people start doing unacceptable things. The first season focuses on a mysterious woman’s lucrative, but dubious offer to a cash-strapped pair of San Francisco newlyweds.
Zellweger (Cold Mountain, Jerry Maguire) stars, alongside Jane Levy (Castle Rock, Suburgatory), Blake Jenner (American Animals, Glee), Samantha Ware (Glee), Keith Powers (Famous in Love), Daniella Pineda (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Juan Castano (Shades of Blue), John Clarence Stewart (Marvel’s Luke Cage) and Dave Annable (Brothers & Sisters).
Executive produced by Showrunner Mike Kelley, alongside Melissa Loy (Page Fright), Alex Gartner, Charles Roven (Atlas Entertainment) and Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke (Compari Entertainment), the project is produced by Warner Bros. Television for Netflix. It premieres worldwide on Friday 24th May. Here’s the teaser trailer announcing its release date:
Glee’s Blake Jenner joins Netflix’s What/If

Blake Jenner has joined the cast of Netflix’s What/If.
The actor, best known for his role as Ryder Lynn in Glee, most recently starred in the indie heist film American Animals alongside Evan Peters, Ann Dowd and Barry Keoghan. Jenner also starred in The Edge of Seventeen opposite Hailee Steinfeld and Woody Harrelson and appeared alongside Logan Lerman and Elle Fanning in Sidney Hall and was the lead in Richard Linklater’s Everybody Wants Some!!.
Now, he his set to star alongside Renee Zellweger and Jane Levy in What/If. Created by Mike Kelley, the social thriller explores the ripple effects of what happens when acceptable people start doing unacceptable things. Each season will tackle a different morality tale inspired by culturally consequential source material, and the power of a single fateful decision to change the trajectory of an entire life.
Lynn will play a character called Ryan, with little else known about the series’ plot or characters. What we do know is that Kelley is writer and showrunner on the project, exec producing alongside Melissa Loy (Page Fright), Alex Gartner and Charles Roven (Atlas Entertainment), plus Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke (Compari Entertainment). Jackie Levine (Compari Entertainment) is co-exec producer.

Jane Levy is joining Renée Zellweger in Netflix’s What/If.
The social thriller, which explores the ripple effects of what happens when acceptable people start doing unacceptable things, was announced earlier this month. The anthology series will tackle a different morality tale in each season, inspired by culturally consequential source material, and the power of a single fateful decision to change the trajectory of an entire life.
Season 1 will span 10 episodes and will see Zellwegger take on the lead role of Anne. Now, Netflix has announced that Levy (Castle Rock, Suburgatory) will co-star as Lisa.
Mike Kelley serves as creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer of the show. It was created by Kelly and developed in collaboration witd his producing partner Melissa Loy and Atlas Entertainment’s Alex Gartner.

Renée Zellweger will star in Netflix’s new series, What/If.
In what will be the first major TV role for the Bridget Jones’ Diary star, Zellweger will take the lead role in Netflix’s social thriller, which explores the ripple effects of what happens when acceptable people start doing unacceptable things.
Each season will tackle a different morality tale inspired by culturally consequential source material, and the power of a single fateful decision to change the trajectory of an entire life. Zellweger will play Anne in Season 1, which will span 10 episodes.
The show is created by Mike Kelley (Revenge, Swingtown), who executive produces alongside Melissa Loy under the auspice of Page Fright; Alex Gartner and Charles Roven under the auspice of Atlas Entertainment, and Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke for Compari Entertainment, which produces in association with Warner Bros. Television.
