The Raindance Web Fest will return for its third year running this September, Raindance has announced.
The dedicated digital series festival, which takes place during the Raindance Film Festival on 25th to 27th September, will feature a packed schedule of screenings and panel discussions with industry experts (such as Steve November of ITV, Kathleen Grace of New Form Digital, Alexander Lewin of Maker Studios and Hass Mossa of Endemol Beyond), covering topics from commissioning through to digital series distribution and monetisation.
The festival will also see the return of its web TV pilot contest. Sponsored by Dailymotion and now in its second year, the competition aims to find the brightest future talents of independent web and TV series.
The contest is now open for creators and filmmakers, who are invited to submit a five-minute scripted pilot episode of a series. The winning pilot will not only receive a £2,500 cash award towards production costs of their full series, but will also have the chance to use the post production facilities at Dailymotion’s Paris studios.
Pilot episodes will be hosted on Dailymotions Raindance channel at www.dailymotion.com/RaindanceWebFest. The winning web series will also be featured on Dailymotion’s home page and social media channels, giving the show additional promotional exposure.
“With the rise of live streaming, the internet has created exciting opportunities for writers and independent filmmakers, often working with limited budgets, to be discovered<" says Elliot Grove, Raindance Founder. "The web series has become the new short form content that agents, creatives and studio executives expect and Web Fest aims to educate them and celebrate the great work that’s already available online." Stefano Caccavo, Dailymotion's Content Development Manager UK, Ireland and Northern Europe, add: "Dailymotion is thrilled to renew the Web Series Pilot competition in collaboration with Raindance Web Fest. Dailymotion is strongly committed to supporting emerging video creators."
